About me
Hello,
I am currently a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of West Virginia, a Licensed Clinical Practicing Counselor in the State of Maryland and have worked as a Mental Health Counselor/ Psychotherapist providing, home-based, school-based, and outpatient counseling (office-based) to individuals, families, and couples since 2014. In addition I have extensive training in providing tele-based therapy for individuals and have actively participated in offering online therapy services for the last two years. I graduated with my Master of Arts in Human Services Counseling with a concentration in Marriage and Family Therapy in 2014 then again with my second Master of Arts degree from Liberty University in Professional Counseling in 2017. I have worked with an array of clients with varying mental health disorders including trauma, serious, depression, anxiety, personality disorders and gender identity issues.
In addition to my experience as a counselor, I have extensive experience working with youth, teens, and young adults. I have worked in the Human services field for a total of 14 years with the bulk of my experience being working with youth and families. I have previously provided recreation therapy, play therapy, pet therapy and art therapy in a group home setting to youth with disabilities. Those experiences have truly taught me that all people can benefit from counseling.
I consider myself an eclectic therapist whole-heartedly individualizing my counseling approaches to meet the needs of everyone I work with. I have specialized training in Trauma-Based Play therapy and Trauma Focused- CBT. My style incorporates Existential, Cognitive Behavioral, Person-Centered and Narrative Therapy approaches to provide treatment that is unique to my client’s needs. In addition, I have extensive experience providing vocational counseling and working with people and families of people who have intellectual disabilities.
I believe in the power of therapy and am a strong clinician ready to assist with motivation and eliciting positive change.
I would be happy to work with you!

Reviews
These quotes represent just a few of the many positive reviews that we have received for Darren Wiley. We don't pay anyone to provide their review and they are all made voluntarily. Some people's experience receiving therapy with Teen Counseling might be different.
Great listener, helpful questions asked. Able to respond in relatable stories. He makes me think.
Darren has been awesome in helping me navigate through my anxiety, self confidence and social skills. He’s a good listener and very supportive in my growth!
He listens to me and I free to speak my mind.
Darren has really helped my son get focused and kept him from feeling overwhelmed as he’s dealing with school, work, sports, college choice, girlfriend and all the other stresses of being a teenager in 2023. I really recommend this app and Darren in particular to anyone who needs help navigating a challenging time.
Best listener I've ever had, it's been half a month so far and I've already opened up about so many things on my mind that I'd normally feel way to anxious to tell anyone else about, highly recommended by me and look forward to every session with him
Darren has been very helpful in making me feel comfortable talking to him , he’s very understanding and kind.
He is awesome
Excellent!
Darren has helped me a lot and I firmly recommend him to anyone that is going through trauma or has dealt with it in the past! He has really helped me get through some tough times!
Darren greatly helped my daughter make progress in overcoming depression and social anxiety. He's given her multiple techniques that have helped her calm her anxiety in social situations. He listens and has genuine empathy and a drive to help. He is available to do video calls or messaging and lets you choose based on your comfort level. He responds to messages promptly and the messages are contemplative and sincere. My daughter looked forward to messaging him with her progress without my prompting. His professionalism, experience working with teens, and techniques were beyond our expectations for our first experience with online counseling. I would highly recommend Darren to any parent hoping to help their child improve their skills in coping with anxiety.
Darren is knowledgeable, understanding, open to suggestion, and met me right where I was in my counseling needs. With his variety of experience and background knowledge, Darren was able to support me and help me reflect on my circumstances, letting me finally move forward from the emotionally sticky life place I found myself in. 10/10, would recommend!
Darren is the best.
Darren Wiley is an ideal fit especially for anyone like myself who hadn't done therapy or counselling before and went into the process feeling slightly self conscious and unsure of it's value.
I assumed you would be looked down on ever so slightly by therapists (perhaps because of the movies) but it's like catching up with a friend at uni or work, highly recommend
Darren has been awesome as a therapist. It has been great working with him and discussing everything. I would definitely recommend him.
