About me

Welcome! I believe healing is a process best done within the parameters of a safe and trusting relationship. When we build a relationship through a therapeutic alliance, we are able to break down the intricacies of the pains and traumas that are causing impairments and limitations in your life. I am a trauma therapist in Tennessee with experience in depression, anxiety, post traumatic stress disorder, domestic violence, LGBTQI issues, attachment issues, phase of life problems, and parenting skills.

I believe that each presenting problem deserves to be heard and understood in a safe environment. Through my therapeutic lens, I believe that the current problems children and teens are experiencing are reflections of emotional needs that are not being met. Unmet emotional needs are not a result of bad parenting; because children and adolescents do not have a fully developed brain, it can be significantly more difficult for them to express their emotional needs than it is for adults. Because of this, parents can be providing some aspects of love and care more than others without even knowing that their child is not being emotionally fulfilled. When emotional needs go unmet, children and adolescents get really good at adapting to new behaviors to feel like somewhere in their life, those needs are adequately being met.; however, these new behaviors may be causing disruption and chaos in other ares of life. What was once adaptive and helpful in getting your emotional needs met is sometimes maladaptive, and potentially causing more harm than good. By using skills in play therapy and mindfulness, I can work with children and adolescents about learning how to voice their needs to ensure their feelings of fulfillment in all areas of life.

I would describe myself as down-to-earth and genuine. I take the time to learn about you and each of the life-events that you feel have shaped you. I believe all folx are created equal and am always willing to learn more about the culture and lifestyle you have chosen for your life. It would be a privilege to hold these hardships with you.

Christina is awesome and really helped my child get to a better place in life. I am really grateful for all the work they have done.

Written on Sep 28, 2022 after therapy with Christina for 1 year and 1 month on issues concerning depression, stress, anxiety, lgbt, relationship issues, trauma and abuse, grief, intimacy-related issues, eating disorders, self esteem, anger management, career difficulties, and compassion fatigue

Christina is an excellent therapist. After a year of sessions with her I have gone through the weeds, and am finally living as my full authentic self. She has been a great listener as I dig through past and present trauma. She helped me identify and live in my values, and reminded me always of the bigger picture. I would recommend her to anyone who has been through trauma and is struggling to find themselves.

Christina is a very skillful listener. This is my first experience in therapy and I am glad that I was able to match with her. She always has thoughtful responses and helps me piece together the context of my traumas and fears. I am glad to be connected with her through teencounseling.com and would definitely recommend her as a therapist.

Christina is a thoughtful listener and helps guide the conversation without being too direct. She is intentional in wanting to learn about you and reflects on how to best guide you to your own insights while providing her own recommendations when opportune. Highly recommend.
