About me

It can be an extremely daunting task to try to find the right therapy fit for your child, and searching through profiles can seem overwhelming. Many kids right now are dealing with frustration, isolation from their peers, and difficulty managing their emotions and feelings. That can look like them withdrawing and isolating themselves, or conversely, having outbursts that seem wholly disproportional to the situation. If that sounds like your kid right now – I promise you are not alone, and you are not failing them as a parent.

I am a licensed clinical professional counselor (LCPC) based in Maryland with four years of experience as a licensed counselor. I have worked primarily with pre-teens, teens, and young adults with a wide range of concerns including depression, anxiety, ADHD, and trauma.

I can help your child to recognize and explore feelings, resolve conflicts, work through difficult behaviors and impulses, reduce anxiety, improve mood, and increase self-esteem. Prior to licensure I served as a crisis counselor on the National Suicide Hotline and am a certified Suicidologist, as well as a trauma-informed counselor. I can help to normalize difficult thoughts and feelings, and provide concrete supports and tools to help manage them.

My counseling style is warm and accepting, and I embrace partnership with clients. I use humor frequently in sessions, but will always honor my client’s story with respect. My approach builds strongly from your strengths, combining humanistic, cognitive-behavioral, and dialectical-behavioral approaches (and it is fully okay if you don’t know what those are). I tailor approaches based on each client’s needs and therapy goals.

If you feel like I might be a good match with your child, or even if you are unsure, I encourage you to reach out and take that step. I am here to support you, your child, and I look forward to working with you.
