About me

I am a Marriage & Family Therapist and have been providing therapy, counseling and education for children, families and individuals for over 20 years. Having worked as both a teacher and therapist, I bring a unique perspective to my practice that honors the personal needs and journey of the individual within a framework of developmental psychology. Committed to understanding the needs of all parents and children, I offer a family centered approach that supports the growth, development and learning of the whole family, including those with developmental or behavioral difficulties.

We live in a demanding culture in which the choices and pressures of everyday life can become overwhelming; confusion, depression and anxiety can be a result, challenging the emergent, creative and dynamic Self of the adolescent. Teens are very much at risk, being in a vulnerable and dramatic phase of life. I have worked with teens confronting developmental challenges, substance abuse and deep emotional questioning. Adolescence is a time to try on personas, explore life’s meaning and make choices of right and wrong that may determine the future. As a therapist I offer a safe place for your teen to explore their interpretations of reality and their sense of Self without judgement or expectation. To a parent, I can offer my compass and navigational perspective during times when you feel like you’re on a ship lost at sea. For the family, let’s find the common ground where love can grow.

I recognize that families are incredibly varied and that individuals have freedom of choice in all aspects of lifestyle, personal relationships and family arrangement. Family is defined by the individuals who strive to love, care for and support one another. I respect all families, however they define and arrange themselves.

Written on Apr 19, 2021 after therapy with Zoe for 11 months on issues concerning relationship

Zoe is a very competent and effective counselor. She is professional, understanding and compassionate at the same. Zoe is very well versed and knowledgeable in the work done at the Gottman Institute, an approach which we found to be very clear, easy to understand, and, most importantly practical to implement in a real world relationship. Zoe is a very personable and easy to talk to counselor and knows when to jump in, and when to let couples talk it through. I would highly recommend Zoe for couples counseling.

Written on Nov 13, 2020 after therapy with Zoe for 4 months on issues concerning depression, stress, anxiety, relationship issues, trauma and abuse, grief, intimacy-related issues, eating disorders, parenting issues, coping with life changes, and compassion fatigue

Zoe helped me unpack my emotional “baggage”, grief that I have carried for years and didn’t know how to process on my own. I felt seen, heard, and respected when I shared my experiences with Zoe. I especially appreciate how she would recall small details from previous sessions, this showed me not only was she listening attentively, but she was also expert at her job. I highly recommend working with Zoe!
