About Me

"The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear."
--Nelson Mandela

Growing up is tough, especially when you have barriers (emotional or otherwise) getting on the same page with your parents or teachers. Add peer pressure and social media and we have a perfect storm brewing that can make teen years more than challenging tan ever before. Having been a therapist in an in-patient mental health setting specializing in adolescents, taught special education, k through 12 and college I am quite familiar with the many riffs that can emerge on the road to adulthood and independence. Having been a troubled teen who now has an amazing relationship with my mother, I am quite motivated to be a catalyst for understanding and change to young adults. Having a therapist that comes from a non-judgmental solution focused base is important and this is the counseling style and interaction that I offer.

I am a licensed clinical social worker in Texas with 10 years of experience working as a therapist, case manager and life coach. I have worked with clients with a wide range of concerns including depression, anxiety, relationship/family issues, ADHD, OCD, LGBT-QIA issues and challenges that come with changes in life. I also helped many people who have experienced physical trauma, sexual and/or emotional abuse.

My counseling style is direct, and interactive and solution focused. I don't believe in stigmatizing or labels. Mental health is just that- a form of healthcare.

My approach to the work we do together combines Cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), psychodynamic and reality therapy . Together, we tailor our conversations and treatment plan to meet your unique and specific needs.

It takes courage to seek for a more fulfilling and happier life and to take the first steps towards a change. If you are ready to take that step I am here to support and empower you.

I look forward to working with you!

Hello! I was strongly recommend Steven! I’ve had two sessions with him and they’ve already made a world of difference. He is helping me dig deep, more than any therapist I’ve ever had. On identifying the where, what, who and why of how I exist right now. Love him!

I can tell he takes the time to truly listen and pin points what the cause of a lot of my troubles and makes me understand them myself.
