About me
Let me take a second to introduce myself. I received my bachelors in psychology at Western Carolina University and then attended Walden University to obtain my masters in clinical mental
health counseling. Through out college, internships, and experience after college, I worked with youth, ranging in ages from 9-18. My experience with youth's (and their families) is 7+ years. My job as a
therapist, is to provide a safe, non-judgmental, empathic, and welcoming space for you and your parents/ caregivers,
regardless of your sex, age, race, culture, religious beliefs, or disability. I was trained to help you
figure out what is best for you, rather than giving direct advice or telling you what to do,
however, I will be there to guide you along the way. We will work collaboratively to identify
skills that are beneficial for you during challenging times. This approach will support growth in
self-esteem, confidence, and the ability to regulate your emotions.
During our sessions, we will discuss issues that you would like to work on or challenges you
might be facing in life. I am trained in Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT)
and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT). These two therapeutic approaches help alleviate the
challenges that come with trauma, PTSD, and personality disorders. The skills learned through
DBT also assist with anxiety and depression. I will have you challenge negative thoughts and
look at other ways to view issues or situations and learn to utilize healthy coping skills. I also
like to incorporate mindfulness skills, such as guided meditations. We can discuss therapeutic
options that you are interested in when we meet.
Parents: I will welcome your child and offer them a safe space to share feelings and work on improving their emotion regulation and develop healthy coping skills. Encourage your child to work hard on their work (worksheets assigned and suggested readings) and to practice their skills. You cannot learn how to utilize skills if they are never practiced.

Reviews
These quotes represent just a few of the many positive reviews that we have received for Stephanie Gwynn. We don't pay anyone to provide their review and they are all made voluntarily. Some people's experience receiving therapy with Teen Counseling might be different.
I really like working with her. She’s so kind and supportive.
Promptly responds to messages and understands my daughters needs
Stephanie has been GREAT! I believe she genuinely cares and wants to help and see me get better. She checks in just to see how things are on a regular basis, always replies to my messages, and gives lots of encouragement. I would recommend her to anyone seeking mental help. A phenomenal therapist!
I’ve only done one session with her, however it was very effective and I feel a lot of progress is being made.
