Stephanie Gooding

About Me

My name is Stephanie Gooding, and I am a licensed therapist in North Carolina. Teenagers are psychologically different from children and adults. In my “day job,” I work with adolescents in the pediatric emergency room. My patients grapple with anxiety, academic pressure, body-dysmorphia, bullying, depression, and self-harm. These cases are complex and rewarding. In 2019, I noticed an increase in patients with either an addiction to technology or irresponsible use of a cell phone. These teens challenge me to research new diagnostic criteria and treatment models.

I am specifically trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). I describe CBT as helping clients incrementally change their behavior. My clients have previously described this approach as empathetic and respectful.

My MA is in Clinical Mental Health from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. I completed my MBA from Queens University and hold an undergraduate degree from Mount Holyoke College.

Very informative. I'm an individual who's neurotic in nature so I second guess a lot of my own ideas and thoughts, and she recognizes this. She's also open-minded to have conversations about upbringing, familial relationships, career, and young adulthood.

I’ve only been working with Stephanie for a few weeks but already find her so warm and comforting. I feel better about my situation and will be loyal to teen counseling so I can keep working with her

Stephanie is so knowledgeable and insightful. In just a few short weeks, she has helped me more than I ever thought possible. I was a little hesitant about starting therapy, especially about doing it online, but during my sessions with Stephanie, she is completely focussed and despite it "only" talking via video chat, I feel like we're in the same room. She is kind and caring and I couldn't ask for anyone better!

Excellent. Highly recommended.
