Hi! My name is Shea and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Texas. I have lived in Texas my entire live and I have worked in education for 20 years. I completed my undergraduate degree at Houston Baptist University with a double major in Education and Spanish. I earned my graduate degree in Counseling from Lamar University. In my 3 years of counseling, I have gained a great deal of experience as a student support counselor with individuals at the high school level, with individuals on a therapeutic basis, as well as individuals in an outpatient setting. My specialties include, grief and loss, trauma, life changes, family and relationship issues, anxiety, and depression. As student support counselor, the students I work with range in age from 14 to 18. I work with teens on an individual or group counseling basis. I love working with teens because I feel it is promising to see young adults finding ways to cope and problem solve. I am grateful for the fact that many young adults today know that they are able seek help when needed.
The therapeutic approaches most reflected in my style of counseling are Solution Focused and Cognitive Behavioral. Those I have worked with have often said my calm demeanor is helpful in that they feel safe and at ease within our therapeutic relationship. I hope that you find this as well. Working with Shea has brought me help beyond expectations! I feel listened to, she gives me perspective on my issues and offers ideas and strategies I can work on after the session. She makes me see the good qualities that I have and is helping me to learn to love my self and not judge me so harsh. I feel fortunate and grateful to have Shea on my team to help me go through this rough patch. Thank you Shea!
