About me
Hey there! My name is Sharon, and I'm a lover of the great outdoors, perfectly roasted coffee, classic rock, and Star Wars.
Let me start by saying this- you're doing great. You're on this counseling page right now, which means that you have decided to get help for an issue that you are ready to deal with. As Jedi Master Obi Wan Kenobi would say, "You have taken your first step into a larger world". As your therapist, my goal is to support and empower you in reaching your personal goals. Our process in therapy can look different, depending on how you'd like to tackle things. Most importantly is that you feel safe and comfortable with the pace and approach we use in your sessions.
I have a Masters in Social Work, and am also a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in the state of North Carolina. I have 3 years of clinical experience working with children and adolescents, in community, home, and residential settings. I have worked with a range of mild to severe mental and behavioral health needs, and have experience incorporating art, music, nature and mental health education into sessions. I have used various approaches in therapy including cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, solutions focused therapy, person-centered therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, psychoeducation, and Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR). Part of the treatment process will include finding the right approach for you, and using it in combination with your personal strengths.
Feel free to reach out and ask any questions you may have. I look forward to meeting you!

First therapist I’ve had that can actually relate to and understand me. Downright excellent!
My daughter, who was at first hesitant to start, really has found great support and looks forward to her sessions.
Sharon is awesome. She always listens to me and makes time for me. She’s very helpful with giving me insight into my own life & emotions
Sharon has really taken the time to help me unpack my habits and life in the healthiest way possible. She ensures I schedule my weekly appointments and when I'm having a hard week she'll do her due diligence by checking in even on the weekends. She's simply amazing!
Sharon Phelan is extremely supportive and helpful to my son. We work collaboratively to understand and help my son navigate through some challenging time. I highly recommend her.
She’s literally the best
Sharon has been great to work with and has made my experience on teencounseling.com a positive one. I appreciate her listening skills and how resourceful she has been. I have experience working with many therapists in different types of offices and Sharon is by far one of the best counselors/therapists i have met. I highly recommend her to anyone!
I really liked that from day one she was interested in who I was. She made me feel super comfortable talking to her and she gives the best advice! A true listener and great therapist!
Sharon is fantastic and I’m so glad to have been matched with her
