Dr. Sarah Leclerc

About Me

Hello there! I am from Haiti and have lived in various parts of the US-- NYC, Southern California for my doctorate, North Carolina for my pre-doc internship, and Upstate NY for my post doc internship. I chose to be a mental health professional because I value providing a safe space for individuals, in which they can be themselves, and explore the complex nature of who they are and who they are becoming.

Being a teenager can be especially difficult and traumatic. It can also be filled with joy, passion, adventure, as teens are learning more about themselves, meeting new peers, and deciding how they'd like to lead their lives. I want to provide a safe space for your child-- a space in which they feel secure, understood and validated, and assist them in finding more joy throughout their teen years and beyond. I have mostly worked with teens experiencing depression, anxiety, sexual trauma histories, and interpersonal difficulties.

I tend to keep in mind individuals’ cultures, history, and the various obstacles they may be experiencing (e.g., racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, Islamophobia), and how all of these obstacles can impact mental health. I value engaging in healing and liberating work where individuals can find safe spaces in their communities online and offline, where they can be themselves, share their stories with others, share their dreams for a less oppressive future, remember their peers and ancestors who may have been taken away too soon, and share the music, writings, and arts they love.

I think all humans crave connections and my dream is for individuals to find connections and spaces in which they feel at home. I also put a lot value on exploring and engaging in self-care. Connecting with, being in tune with, and loving oneself can all enhance our ability to connect effectively with others.

I wasn't sure about therapy through an app, but after a few sessions, I'm so happy I gave this a try. Dr. Leclerc is so wonderful and a great listener. While going through a rough life transition, she's been very responsive and supportive. I'm really looking forward to continuing our talks and working on my self-love.

Dr. Leclerc is amazing. I feel comfortable opening up and don’t feel as though I’ll be judged when I do. She offers great feedback and suggestions for managing stress as well as other problematic areas in life. She responds in a timely manner and takes the time to respond with messages. They are thoughtful and well written. I would highly recommend her!

I have only had one meeting so far, but she was insightful and helpful. Also, very responsive to messages. I look forward to working with her further. I have a very busy schedule and am glad to have found this approach to providing counseling - thank you.

I am the parent of a teen being seen by Dr. Leclerc so I don't have regular appointments with her. However, from the parent perspective I do find her to be engaged and response to my messages.

I was very hesitant to do counseling but Dr. Leclerc has been incredible at helping me deal with and move through a very hard time in life riddled with anxiety. I would recommend her to every single person I know. She’s amazing at what she does. I believe she truly understands what I need from her as an individual and she doesn’t follow a script of what a typical counselor might. She’s wonderful and very professional.

Dr. Leclerc is so patient and truly listens. I’ve never had a therapy experience where from the first session I feel like the therapist gets to the root of my issue and supports me in clarifying my habits and ways to clear it up. I would recommend her to anyone. I’ve had breakthroughs on breakthroughs already and I’m so happy that she is there with me the whole way.
