About Me

Hello and thanks for stopping by! My name is Sandy and I am a licensed professional counselor in the states of Georgia and New Jersey.

Are you the parent or guardian of a child/children with ADHD, who has been bullied, called lazy or is not motivated? Adolescents who suffer from Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder (ADHD) , Adjustment disorder, low sef esteem and social anxiety can ofter be withdrawn and overlooked. They may have difficulty following directions, remembering information, concentrating, organizing tasks, or completing work within the allotted time limits.

When these difficulties are not managed appropriately, associated behavioral, emotional, social, vocational, and academic problems result. More likely than not, there is also anxiety, anger and self-esteem related issues. New habits, impulses and emotional coping skills can be relearned so that individuals who have difficulties with Attention Deficits and other disorders can lead productive, successful and happy lives.

Our CBT and goal focus therapies work on concentration skills, cognitive restructuring, attention and information processing, behavior strategies to combat procrastination and disorganization, communication skills and anxiety and stress inoculation skills.

I have worked with children with ADHD and other diagnoses, adolescents who have experienced physical and other types of trauma and children and adolescents in the foster and adoptive system. If you are looking for a safe place for your teen to talk to someone, you have come to the right place.

I am licensed in the states of GA and NJ earned an MS in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and completed an MA in Community Psychology program.

I have just started my sessions with Sandy and she has been helpful at every step of my journey so far and made sure that my goals are kept in mind for all our sessions going forward and working at them proactively

Even though Sandy and I have had only three sessions so far, but I feel that I have already gained some great perspectives and insights into my concerns. I am very happy with the counseling so far and enjoy working with Sandy. I was a little bit concerned about the therapist matching process when I joined teen counseling but I am happy with the result.

Sandy Barrett is a great counselor, I like how she used worksheets and different techniques to think about myself and my situations from another perspective. She listens carefully and commends me when I have made progress.

Sandy has been a great counselor. She’s very understanding and helps me to process my thoughts, anger and problems and show me the best possible solution to that matter. Just a mere 1 month period with her I feel that I’ve gained very much, in terms of perspective and improving my communication skills. She’s passionate about her client. Thanks Sandy.
