My name is Robin, I am a Licensed Practicing Counselor (LPC). I have worked in mental health since 2008. I received my bachelors in Psychology from Mississippi University for Women. I received my Masters from University of West Alabama and my Specialist degree from Mississippi College. I became a nationally certified counselor (NCC) as well. I enjoy a variety of extracurricular activities and the great outdoors predominantly around water. I have a family and pets whom I love dearly and we often spend time outdoors or watching movies. I wear many hats in my daily life but I would attribute caregiving as my all encompassing trait.
I have seen various age groups from kindergarten to the elderly suffer from mental illness. One thing about mental illness is that it does not discriminate against age, gender, or ethnicity. Anybody can experience a mental illness and it may be brief or life-long. If you are searching for mental health care for your child and are unsure about what to do then you have already made a first step by sitting here reading this paragraph. Teens and kids face problems, real problems that often get pushed aside when adults say "You are just a kid" or "You don't know what real problems are yet" or " What do you know". When a teen's issues get chalked up to being unreal or unimportant; they start to internalize those emotions. This can lead to self harm, suicidal thoughts, poor decision making, low self- esteem, and addiction. If you choose to do therapy online or in person then you know as a parent that your child needs help. Whatever the issue, please provide your child that support today and find a counselor.
