Welcome! My name is Bob Hoopingarner. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor ( LPC) in Arizona and a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) in Ohio. I have been in the counseling field for over 25 years. Every person (client) is unique and has special personal qualities. My goal is to treat everyone with respect, sensitivity, and compassion, and I don’t believe in stigmatizing labels. My counseling style is warm and interactive and I am an excellent listener.
If you are a teenager, it takes courage to seek a more fulfilling and stress-free life but if you need to make some changes to your life I am here to support and empower you and your parents to increased peace and understanding. Being a teenager comes with new experiences that can be rewarding but at the same time challenging. It is a time in your life where you are becoming more aware of your choices and the consequences of those choices are the first stepping stones to become an adult.
When it comes to teens, parents, and all family issues, communication is the key to healthier relationships. If there is a lack of understanding and empathy between the parent(s) and the teenager, there is less communication and decreased trust. This can lead to the teen isolating themselves from the family and turning to their friends for support. The consequence of this, sometimes, has the teenager turning to self-destructive behaviors, such as flunking in school.
This is where counseling can be beneficial to the teenager and the parents. A counselor can be a non-biased third party where the counselor is working on the relationship between everyone and can offer guidance and increased understanding, trust, and hope.
