About Me
'The first duty of love is to listen.' When someone truly listens the problems come to light and can be healed, resolved. Your teen's unique capabilities and telling of their story in the ways they choose to resolve what brings them to counseling are highly valued in the counseling process. I may use assessments and diagnoses but may also help with adjustment or not need to label. I assess the problem and offer researched solutions proven to work. I use a variety of therapies, including a person centered approach, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Play Therapy, Animal Assisted Therapy, and Psychodynamic. CBT is proven to work as effectively as Rx drugs for some diagnoses. Sometimes prescription medication is necessary and I consult with medical doctors and other professionals I refer to. I have worked with teenagers for over 7 years in private practice, residential treatment, the public schools, with children and teens with autism using Behavioral Analysis as a tech, and I was also a Professor of Psychology, Career Development, and College Success. I have experience working with military and international clients. I've worked at a Baker Act Unit (crisis); domestic violence shelter; prison; base; residential drug treatment center; court programs; in home treatment; schools; on immigration, bariatric, and child dependency assessments; under a Psychiatrist, Behavior Analyst, & Physical Therapist; and as a Personal Trainer. I am confident I can help your teen through the challenges they are facing and to thrive.

Very kind and helpful!
I have found Rachel to be excellent.
Our initial counsellor on teencounselling was quite poor and I had all but lost confidence.
Over the last year, Rachel had restored my confidence. She has been excellent with my 17 year old. My daughter, has said that she finds the counselling very useful.
Rachel is extremely helpful, compassionate and patient. She balances her advice and counselling with the right amount of non-judgmental listening wonderfully. I highly recommend Rachel.
Rachel is a great listener and have a wide experience. She provided me with useful surveys and resources. As a bipolar, I have better managed my mood swings due to her help in cognitive therapy.
Rachel has been very supportive. Not only in the advice she gives, but she's also very respectful of how I wish to approach therapy at the moment. I'm only comfortable with live chat, and she respects the boundary. Same with therapy methods that I try but don't feel are effective for me specifically.
I feel she approaches my and my situation as an individual, not with broad stroke approaches just because she is an expert. This approach has made it much easier for me to open up to her and have an open mind to trying her methods. If they don't work, we tried and that's ok. So we try something else. I feel very fortunate to be working with Rachel.
She is great!
