Hi. I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and Certified Drug and Alcohol Counselor in California with more than 8 years of combined unlicensed and licensed experience providing mental health services for children, adolescents and adults, at homes, schools and agencies.
In today’s times it is becoming harder for adolescents to deal in this society, they are exposed to so much information that might confuse them and make them feel lost. If your teen is struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma, grief or difficulty in relationships in school, I can help, you are not alone,
I have personal experience working with adolescents and helping them find solutions to their concerns, as well as challenging distorted beliefs that negatively influence their decisions. I use a variety of therapeutic approaches, such as cognitive/behavioral, solution focused, humanistic, and strategic and structural which addresses family conflicts.
A little more about me: I worked for 17 years in Bogota/Colombia as a clinical psychologist in private practice. I was also a professor in different universities, and I worked closely with students in an undergraduate program. I was a part of a team working in rehab institutions for adolescents and adults with addiction issues and I counseled their families to help them overcome the sadness and pain of having a love one struggling with addictions.
Working in the US, a multicultural society, has given me more skills to work with people from different backgrounds and nationalities and I have developed special sensibility to work with single parents, broken families, adolescents and other adults transitioning to a different stage in life.
I look forward to working with you and accommodating my schedule, including nights from 7 to 9 pm and Sundays afternoon. Best wishes in your path of therapy.
