About Me
Welcome!
I am an LCSW (Licensed Clinical Social Worker-Wisconsin) with 20 years direct practice experience working with young adults and teenagers in a variety of settings. These include; residential, in-home therapy, day treatment, group home, emergency services, foster care, adoption, and outpatient therapy. I currently work full-time as a lecturer and advisor in the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay Social Work Program. I also volunteer as a Disaster Mental Health worker for the Red Cross.
My specialties include helping people with depression, anxiety, family challenges, self-esteem, life changes, compassion fatigue, and anger management. My theoretical perspectives/interventions include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, and Expressive/Creative Modalities.
My approach to therapy is to create an open, warm, and inclusive environment. I believe it is important to work collaboratively and practice flexibility tailoring interventions to individual needs. I strive to provide support while identifying strengths. My goal is to discover potential, foster growth, and achieve a sense of wellness.
I look forward to meeting and working with you as we begin this journey!

Nine Powell is an exceptional counselor. She quickly put me at ease, listens without judgement, asks insightful questions, and offers valuable advice. She is clearly incredibly kind, caring, and empathic and has excellent listening and communication skills. I'm really grateful to have Nina guide me through this journey and couldn't have asked for a better counselor. Can't recommend her enough!
Nina is a very empathetic and encouraging counsellor and approaches every conversation so free of judgement. I have found working with her, especially through the challenges of the election and the pandemic, extremely helpful.
I've felt comfortable with Nina from the very first session. She allows a space where my values can grow in a positive way, and has a brilliant way of deterring any sort of self doubt in a constructive way. I recommend 100%
Nina is everything you could hope for and more; she's the real deal. I respect her therapeutic creativity and expertise. She offers out of the box questions, ideas, choices and feedback to help me think differently. I was scared to start therapy many months ago. She created a genuinely safe space to share openly and work through life's challenges, past and present. Nina is incredibly supportive, patient and kind. I am thankful for her help and know I will continue to progress with her guidance.
Nina is a wonderful counsellor. She helps me develop strategies that are both practical and that yield results. Her schedule is very accommodating and I look forward to our sessions every week.
I've been working with Nina for ~ 2 weeks and I find her to be very kind, a good listener, experienced and knowledgeable. She's helped me realize some things already that I previously haven't clearly seen for what they were. I recommend Nina to anyone seeking counseling.
So far I have a lot of confidence in our discussions and I am developing a trusting relationship.
