About me

Everyone deserves a journey of self-healing and self-discovery. In fact, allowing your teen start their journey of counseling at a young age allows them the avenue to self confidence and establishing healthy connections with others that are vital for a fulfilling adulthood.

I have worked in the field of mental health for over 12 years, but have been researching and seeking methods of healing since my early teens. I attended the University of California, San Diego, followed by Naropa University in Boulder, Colorado. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and Certified EFT Practitioner. I have resided in California, Colorado, New Jersey, and now reside in Austin, Texas.

I have experience assisting families, teens, and adults dealing with a range of issues including anxiety and mood disorders, trauma, addictions, end of life issues, and issues related to discrimination and marginalization. I am an experienced therapist, supervisor, and group facilitator in various settings. I also served as adjunct faculty at Naropa University, teaching courses on Transforming Addictions and Multicultural and Diversity Issues in Counseling. I have specifically worked with teens dealing with severe emotional disturbances and trauma in residential settings and also worked as a Multisystemic Therapist, assisting teens with behavioral difficulties.

I have undoubtedly learned the power of transforming harmful mental and emotional patterns. As such, I found myself specializing in mindfulness based techniques and with foundations in unique spiritual perspectives. I am certified in the Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT), a powerful, but simple method that provides immediate relief of distress. When offered in guided sessions, EFT also works to unravel and shift unhealthy patterns that the conscious mind and talk therapy alone cannot access. This method is successful for all age groups, and teens especially find the self-application of the technique to be invaluable when coping with immediate experiences of distress.

I work with teens by providing safety in sessions, allowing them to have a sense of authenticity and honesty in sessions. I use creative, dynamic methods and offer assignments tailored to their personalities so that they actually look forward to sessions.

I almost don’t want to review Muni because I want her all to myself; I found her when I needed her most. I have never felt more heard or understood in therapy, after many attempts at finding a counselor in my life. She doesn’t give me quick fixes or try to tell me how I’m feeling. She listens to every last thing I have to say, shows me so much compassion and empathy, and then guides me to a solution for the end of session to leave me feeling better in the short term, while continuing work on the bigger picture to help me in the long term. Muni deserves the world and people who are hurting deserve Muni.

She is really sweet, insightful, and cares deeply for your mental health. She is funny and charming, all while holding nuggets of facts to back up what she has to say. I recommend.
