I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in Pennsylvania, with seven years of experience of providing direct mental health and behavioral health counseling. I have worked with clients between the ages of 5 to adult, including teenagers, with a wide range of concerns including depression, anxiety, relationship issues, anger issues, parenting problems, career challenges, trauma, self esteem, and ADHD. I have also worked extensively with children and adolescents, as well as their parents to reduce conflict and increase communication and understanding within the relationship.
My counseling style is warm, interactive, and validating. I believe in treating clients with respect, sensitivity, and compassion. My approach combines Cognitive-Behavioral, Humanistic, Dialectical-Behavioral, and Gestalt theories to help guide our work together. I will tailor our dialog and treatment plan to meet your unique and specific needs. Together, we will set goals that you would like to work on, and I will discuss ways in which you can make changes.
It takes courage to seek for a more fulfilling and happier life and to take the first steps towards a more positive shift. If you are ready to take that step I am here to support and empower you.
I look forward to working with you!

Hi Mija! We wanted to thank you so much for graciously stepping in the gap while Evelyn's other therapist was out for the month. You were such big help & gave her an affirming, safe place to voice her anxious thoughts & concerns. As we had initially discussed, since her other therapist is back in the office, we no longer need your services. But you can be sure we will be recommending you & this online service to others we know who may need it! You are a very warm & caring person & your patients are blessed to have you.
I've only been talking to Mija for a short while, but feel like she listens and understands exactly where I've been and what I'm looking for out of counseling. She listens, understands and is helping me with the tools I need to heal from my past. Thank you Mija!
Mija is very attentive and considerate, allowing me to discuss my issues at my own pace. She has sent a variety of worksheets to work through and I am really enjoying speaking to her. It is a lot easier than my past experiences with counsellors, and I look forward to her responses.
Really supportive counselor and I like how she provides tasks/exercises for self reflection.
Helped me voice my concerns and find ways to repair my marriage with also bettering myself. She helps me boost my self confidence even in the toughest of times. She gives me ideas that I wouldn’t have otherwise thought of.
Mija Serrano is calm, patient, non judgmental, empathetic and understanding. She is goal oriented and really helps give you the skills and coping mechanisms for whatever it is you are dealing with or going through. I feel like I have had a lot of progress with Mija in such a short time and am happy to keep working with her.
Mija is kind, professional, and insightful, but also casual and friendly enough to make me very comfortable. She is good at seeing links between things I’ve brought up that I hadn’t necessarily seen or thought of and giving me feedback without invalidating how I’m feeling or why.
Mija is the first counselor I’ve ever had, and there have been a lot, that I felt not only understood me, but had good advice and practical tips as well. It’s only been just over a week, and I have a lot of work to do, but I am excited to continue to work with her.
I'm incredibly grateful to have met Mija Serrano through teen counseling. I've worked with a few therapists, but never had much luck connecting with them. What Mija brings to a session is an immense amount of knowledge, a genuine desire to see you succeed, and ALL the tools you personally will need to do so. I've seen life changing progress in my relationships, and I truly believe I just needed the right person to guide me. Thank you!
I’ve been working with Mija for less than 3 weeks, but even in that short time I feel extremely comfortable and productive with her. Mija is very responsive in messaging, attentive and thought-provoking in conversation, and provides tools in between sessions that feed both my progress and our weekly conversations. I feel heard and respected, which I feel is key in a counseling relationship.
I have only spent a few weeks talking with Mija, but she has definitely helped me become a better myself by pointing me in the right direction. I continue looking forward to her expertise and guidance.
Mija is very supportive and patient with my healing process. She has given me a few tools that I was able to use when I needed the most. I find the weekly sessions to be more helpful than the in-person therapy sessions I did a while ago. I’m still learning and I’m glad I was introduced to this website where I can get the support I need to be better again.
