About Me

Hi, my name is Michelle, I am a licensed clinical social worker in Kansas City Missouri area. I have a practice called Anchored in Hope Therapy LLC that provides therapy services to youth and adults. I have confidence in my skills to connect with youth and I look forward to the opportunity to help you and your family on your journey.

Prior to becoming a therapist I was a social worker for over 11 year and 6 of those years were working with children and youth designing both mentoring and recreational programs with a local nonprofit. I returned to graduate school to further my education and became a licensed clinical social worker with a focus on mental health. I am currently licensed in Missouri and waiting approval for Kansas. I bring a fun, positive energy to therapy and I like to think outside the box when working youth. I have experience with youth struggling with anxiety, depression, self esteem, thoughts of self harm and suicide.

For the past over 8 years working I have spent my time in a variety of mental health settings including community mental health, hospitals, and private practice. I spent a good portion of my clinical work in crisis response. I have a strong knowledge of police culture working alongside law enforcement & responding to people in crisis response. My clinical experience has provided me with strong active listening skills, empathy, and compassion for all people of diverse backgrounds and circumstances.

My clinical practice is a combination of talk therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness, coping skills development, and motivational interviewing to guide therapeutic change. Therapy is a collaborative relationship and personalized to meet your needs. When it comes to adolescents and youth I strive to meet clients where they are and create a therapeutic space where they feel safe to open and work through their unique circumstances.

My gift is listening, providing support, and understanding all while challenging you to be the best version of yourself. I hope to share my knowledge with you as your take your journey to wellness.

Michelle gave we lots of good advice and recommendations for my situation. She even sent me extra information pertaining to my needs. She was a great listener. I felt that she had knowledge, understanding and compassion; a great combination for a counselor.
