About me
Hello, I’m Michele D'Angelo. I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the State of New York, and I have been working in the mental health field for the past 10 years. In that time, I spent 5 of those years specifically working with children, teens, and families; including families involved in the juvenile justice system, the foster system, and with the Department of Family and Children’s Services. I am very comfortable addressing trauma, grief, and family dynamics. My work with youth and families has familiarized me with issues related to academics and the school system. For the past 4 years I have worked as an on-site therapist at an elementary/middle school setting in district 75, which is an alternative school.
I have experience working with teens that are struggling with a wide range of issues including: depression, anxiety, anger issues, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, low self-esteem, behavior issues, social skills deficits, as well as addiction and substance use issues.
Throughout all of my experience, I have developed excellent clinical skills and pride myself on my expertise. I feel most comfortable utilizing a number of theoretical approaches based on what the client brings to the session. My counseling style is warm and interactive. I believe in treating everyone with respect, sensitivity, and compassion, and I don't believe in stigmatizing labels. I most often incorporate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy principles, motivational interviewing, harm reduction, systems theory, attachment theory, and a client centered approach. In older youth and adults I focus a lot on processing and meeting the client where they are at in the session. I will tailor our dialog and treatment plan to meet your unique and specific needs.
It takes courage to seek for a more fulfilling and happier life and to take the first steps towards a change. If you are ready to take that step I am here to support and empower you.
I look forward to working with you.

Michele is an understanding and supportive therapist. She’s given me so many helpful tools to guide me when I’m feeling anxious and overwhelmed. She’s quick to respond and flexible. I’m very happy with Michele!
I'm very happy to be working with Michele, she is a very friendly and non-judgmental listener who is also very good at pointing out issues, identifying patterns, and asking insightful questions!
Michele is very professional and always is in a wonderful mood. She has been very helpful in our journey.
Michele is a kind, attentive and open minded individual. I feel so comfortable and respected in all of our sessions. I live an alternative lifestyle and it’s been hard to find a therapist that speaks to who I am as a person and I finally found that in Michele. Happy every day that I found her.
Michele listens to me without judgment or condescension. She is always helpful and comforting, and leads me to confronting my issues and resolving them without being pushy. I feel comfortable confiding in her.
Michele is great and I highly recommend her. She’s helped me tremendously and I look forward to our chats every week.
Shes amazing
Michele was quickly able to develop a relationship with my daughter and to open her up so she would feel safe sharing her feelings and getting to where she wants and needs to be!
I have been talking to Michele for a few months now and it's been great. At first I was awkward with the whole online counseling but she is easy to talk to so it didn't take me long to acclimate. From time to time she points out things to consider from what I say -- that's been very helpful. I know I'm in a long haul but I am feeling very comfortable. Highly recommended.
I started using teencounseling.com about 6 weeks ago or maybe a little more. I was paired with Michele. I really enjoy my conversations with Michele. She doesn’t push the traditional CBT etc. & yet she doesn’t “tell it like it is.” She’s always on my side and responds to me every night which for someone like me whose mind is always going, it’s nice to look forward to a response from Michele. She’s awesome.
Helpful and there when you need to talk!

with no judgment or bias.
Thank you for your help Michele!
Michele was the right person for teencounseling.com to match me with. She is a great listener, and she "gets it." She understands my concerns, and she provides the supportive feedback that helps me take appropriate steps toward sorting out my thoughts. I like the online format that teencounseling.com offers, and I am confident in Michele.
Michele was a very good listener and her support has helped me get through some tough times! I highly recommend her as a counselor, and more importantly a friend.
Michele has a great way of providing you with the tools to look at yourself in from a different angle.. She asks the right questions and I find it a very insightful chatting with her. I get something out of every live session that we have. There is always a sense of progress. She also makes it a point to always check in to provide a continuous and consistent dialogue so you never feel out of touch.
She is very receptive, helps me out when I need it and all around has helped me understand how to go forward with my relationship with my wife, and kid.
