About me

I am a Ph.D. level therapist. In addition, I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of Georgia and New York. I have extensive experience working with children, adolescents, and families. I understand that seeking services for yourself and your children/family can be difficult. I am here to help you with your “therapeutic journey.” For some seeking my assistance, this might be the first experience; for others, an ongoing decision to continue services. For those returning after an absence from treatment, I am ready to help you get things back on track.

My work has allowed me to work with children, adolescents, young adults, and their families. I specialize in helping children, adolescents, and families develop a healthy sense of self (i.e., self-esteem, self-concept, self-confidence), help families identify, identify and define familial roles, and improve relationships. I apply treatment approaches that help individuals and family groups understand human interaction, teach new ways to decrease conflict, and improve communication. I have experience addressing depression, anxiety, life stressors, parenting challenges, and past and current trauma. I am an evidence-based treatment provider who understands the benefit of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Trauma-Focused Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Dialectal Behavioral Therapy, and Family Therapy for individuals and families seeking services. In addition, I use a Person/Client-Centered treatment approach and Motivational Interviewing as needed. I am flexible when it comes to weekday schedules. I am available for evenings and weekend appointments.

I look forward to meeting you!

Dr. Balthrope is a very practical and patient therapist, I was very comfortable to talk to her about my anxiety, family related issues, self-esteem problems and thanks to her I made a lot of progress. After the first few sessions I knew that she's gonna be perfect, because I felt the her trust in me, how energetic she is and how much joy she gets from helping others. She helped me through switching jobs, getting my diploma while dealing with weakened relationships in the family, divorced parents. She gave me lots of practical advice that I can use in my life long after the end of our sessions.

Dr. Balthorpe is super professional and supports my needs very well. During our sessions, she supports me with her wisdom and I find that I spend time the following days thinking about our sessions and how I can implement the variety of things I take away from the experience. As a result, I’m able to relate better with family members and be a better mom while also finding ways to balance my needs and self-care. Highly recommend!
