Hi, I'm Mia and I'm so glad you're here. I am a Clinical Social Worker who specializes in healing relationships between youth and their families, teachers, and peers, so they can have more opportunities to practice becoming and being their best self. After receiving my Masters in Social Work I began her career in Marietta, GA working with students in 3rd-12th grade under the non profit agencies Communities In Schools and Marietta YELLS (Youth Empowerment through Learning, Leading, and Serving). While serving students and the adults charged with their care and learning, I recognized that we are all shaped through the interactions we have with those around us and whether or not we have safe spaces to practice new skills and test new beliefs. At that time I began working more closely with children, families, and educators through a more cognitive perspective. Challenging beliefs systems, identifying dysfunction, and teaching clients how to recognize and maintain health in both their thoughts and their relationships became the keystone in my work with families.
The teenage years are a very special, and rocky, time of life for both parents and children. It is my belief that during this time teens are becoming something new and it is very difficult for parents to let go of the person they knew their child to be, and get to know this new budding adult. Teens are also having a hard time defining who they are becoming and sometimes need a little help understanding the "why" behind their actions. Making connections between thoughts, feelings, and actions ( known as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) has been most helpful in my work and helping teens build a life through positive beliefs, self talk, and behaviors.

Mia is a fly ass therapist. She is also smart, resourceful , sweet, sympathetic, a good listener, patience, and easy to talk too. I have enjoy my sessions with her.
I've been working with Mia for a couple of weeks now and she has made a profound difference on my mental health and overall wellness. This is my first time doing therapy, so I was hesitant in using teen counseling. Mia immediately made me feel accepted, safe, and welcome. I appreciate that she provides homework after each session and helps me develop the tools I need to navigate personal issues. I cannot recommend her enough.
Mia has exceeded all my expectations. She is an outstanding therapist. She is bright, warm, kind and extremely knowledgeable. Beyond that she also helps to open my eyes to new possibilities and realistic outcomes. I really like the way she plans ahead and approaches our sessions. The tasks she gives me to complete are very useful. They help to keep progress moving forward between sessions. I recommend Mia without hesitation.
Mia has changed my life.
A few months ago, when I started with Mia, I was really struggling. From the very beginning, she connected with what I had to say on a deep level - I felt completely heard and valued. She gave me beautiful tools to teen counseling self-trust and to rebuild my life from the inside out.
So much of my life has changed under her guidance - she's even positively impacted elements I thought were already fine. Mia's focus on nurishing the soul and living through love has made my entire reality shine with a joy and luminosity that I've lacked my entire life up until now. To say that she helped me is an egregious understatement. Mia's guidance has allowed me to rediscover myself and to live my life with a glowing, fresh perspective.
She's incredibly easy to talk to, she's kind and uplifting, encouraging and loving. She feels like a friend who always knows just what to say. I honestly can't recommend her enough for the way she has impacted my life. She is an incredible gift to those she serves through this practice, and I cannot express how grateful I am for all that she has done for me.
Mia is a wonderful counselor. She's able to juggle the variety of problems that have occurred in my life, and helped me see some of the root problems. My issues focused more on anxiety and family conflict which she has really helped me handle. She provides great worksheets and is very easy to talk to. I highly recommend using her!
Talking to Mia has been really great. She gives good advice and is caring and compassionate. Her reply times are good, especially since I have never tried the "Mark as Urgent" button, but even without it, she's always replied within the same day without problems.
She's helped me deal with my problems by using comparsions, both from personal experience stories and a more scientifical perspective, but she has also been understanding and seems like she genuinely cares about my problems.
I definitely recommend her as a therapist!
Mia is a genuinely nice person. She's skilled at cutting through the rambling and getting to the core issues.
Talking to her helps me very much, and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend her to anyone. She's great!
Mia has been exceptional in our communications with each other. My relationship with my partner is the best it's ever been thanks to her support with me. My work life is improving and I'm looking forward to solving many other issues within my life so I can be the best version of myself. I would highly recommend her.
Mia Garret is exceptional; a complete credit to the teen counseling community. I have never worked through my personal issues via counseling before, so this has been a completely novel and somewhat scary journey for me, but Mia has held my (virtual) hand every step of the way. She is calm, compassionate, positive and most importantly - real! It's almost been as if talking to a friend; I have felt so comfortable talking to Mia about things that I quite frankly have never explored before. Mia's listened to everything I've shared and given me a range of strategies and exercises for healing that are personal, workable and tailored to me. She has responded quickly and has checked in with me at points to let me know she's there. For me, I know there is still a long journey of healing ahead, but I also know that I would never have begun to make the progress and reflections needed without Mia's help. She is a gem of our earth and I'd recommend her to anybody! Forever grateful, Mia. Thank you x
Mia has been an absolute gem. I am new to the world of counseling and she has managed to make it such a seamless experience for me. I feel like I'm just chatting with an old friend and getting great advise that is helping shape my life and put a lot of things in perspective. I highly recommend her.
