About Me

“Always remember you are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, smarter than you think & twice as beautiful as you’d ever imagined.”-unknown

Hello my name is Melissa Moore and I am a licensed professional counselor. I have been working in the mental health field for the past 6 years. I received my Master's in Arts degree in Counseling Psychology from Anna Maria College and a Master’s in Science degree with a specialization in Mental Health Counseling from the University of Massachusetts Boston.

Throughout my profession, I enjoy working with children, adolescent, and parents in the home, mental health clinics and hospital setting to help work through various mental health dispositions to ultimately become functional and happy with their lifestyle. I have experience in providing individual counseling and group counseling using different approaches to address problems adolescents have to face in today’s society. Some of these problems I address include family/peer relationships, cultural differences, adoption, intellectual/physical limitations, anxiety, depression, disruptive behaviors, and life transitions. I have provided psychoeducation to parents and school staff to help children and adolescents navigate through these challenges they face.

My training and modalities I have utilized to better serve this population is a holistic approach as one modality does not ‘fit all.’ My approach to counseling is based on starting where the person is and building on their strengths, helping them understand how their thoughts and feelings interacts with their behaviors and helping them find solutions and to become their better self. I help adolescents seek change from their past and present challenges to fuel them to pursue future endeavors by creating an unconditional, supportive and trusting environment to reach their life goals. I am optimistic in navigating this journey together to create a beautiful life.
