About me
Hello and welcome!
My name is Melanie Marsh and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Colorado with more than 20 years in the mental health field. After completing my Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology at Iowa State University in 2001, I had the opportunity to work with struggling youth in a residential treatment setting for 7 years in Iowa. I then made the move to the beautiful mountains of Colorado in 2008 and obtained my Master of Counseling degree from Colorado Christian University in 2011. While working towards my counseling degree I had the wonderful opportunity to work with children who had autism and their families. Since graduating in 2011, I have worked with a variety of individuals who struggle on a daily basis. I primarily work with teenagers and young adults struggling with depression, anxiety, family conflicts, trauma, abuse, grief/loss, attachment issues, LGBTQ+ issues, and other life challenges.
In working with teens, I have a pretty eclectic approach. I understand that each person is an individual and needs a little different approach to counseling. My approach to therapy is a relaxed and non-judgmental mix of CBT (how thoughts turn into feelings and behaviors), mindfulness, solution-focused, and motivational discussions. While using these approaches, I also invite you to talk about your interests in session and we can utilize them in helping you make positive changes. For example, I used to play cards with my some of my clients while doing therapy in a residential setting. It is important to me to meet each person where they are at, allowing a safe, supportive, and respectful environment. I am here to understand more about you and what has brought you to therapy. I would be honored to help you on your journey in creating a happier and healthier life.

Reviews
These quotes represent just a few of the many positive reviews that we have received for Melanie Marsh. We don't pay anyone to provide their review and they are all made voluntarily. Some people's experience receiving therapy with Teen Counseling might be different.
Melanie is genuine, compassionate, down-to-earth, and full of insight and practical ideas. I'm really going to miss our sessions, but I am doing so much better because of her excellent help. Her knowledge of autism really assisted me in my journey as a carer. Melanie helped me with family dynamics, with stress and trauma, and with learning to look after my own wellbeing. Thank you, Melanie - you're amazing! :-)
She's doing a great job so far and we appreciate her.
Melanie is incredibly personable and level headed. She is very thoughtful with her responses and asks good thought provoking questions to get the the heart of the matter. Definitely recommend!
