To take this step to better yourself is the beginning of a journey and the destination is up to you. It takes a great amount of courage to admit to needing help and even more to seek it out. As a therapist, I am a teammate or guide on this journey to who you would like to become. I would like you to get to know me a little and the core principles of my therapy.
I started therapy a little later in life after returning to school following a period of disability. I have a Master's degree in Clinical Counseling. I am also currently pursuing my Doctorate of Psychology and should graduate in 2020. I live on the Gulf Coast in Texas and currently hold licensure as a Licensed Professional Counselor and a National Certified Counselor. I have a passion for helping others and am dedicated to my client's needs. As a therapist, the agency I worked for was involved in helping deal with the recovery of Hurricane Harvey and the Santa Fe, TX school shooting. This experience has increased my awareness and practice using CBT for trauma. Working with anxiety, PTSD, and extensive trauma with clients. I also have 4 years of experience working with adolescents in a juvenile setting. The adolescent diagnoses that were prevalent were PTSD, ADHD, Oppositional Defiant Disorder, Anger Regulation, and some attachment disorders. I also have worked in the area of self-esteem, confidence, respect, and communication. All are keys to becoming a powerful person.
In working with Adolescents, I have learned that the world they live in is highly complicated and full of external pressures. Many teens just want to fit in somewhere and are trying to find that place. Sometimes it begins with a breakdown in the communication or the understanding of teenage life or it may be more serious, but no issue is unrepairable. Teens are a valuable source to our society and sometimes they have to be taught or guided through this difficult period in their life. I do not put pressure on the client to talk, they need to be willing and the establishment of the relationship is the key. I have a great ability to connect to teens and respect them for who they are what they would like to become.

Sessions with my counselor had an immediate impact on my like. Until then, I was really struggling to see way forward. His wise words and guidance made me instantly much calmer and able to focus on way ahead. I will be forever grateful.
Matt is a very positive person and responds in a very timely manner. His ability to pinpoint issues for me has been great and when speaking with him, shows he can really relate to your issues and does help with positivity. It’s very easy to chat with Matt and talk to him about what I’m feeling and the issues I’ve had. Very happy to have been allocated Matthew Jones.
I was very hesitant to try therapy online. I have found Matthew Jones to be a great therapist and resource. I appreciate his ability to discuss issues that make me feel really vulnerable. He is very professional and has given me great insights and resources that provide me with the tools to cope with the things in my life.
Matthew checks in with me most days to assure me that he is working with my son. He communicates immediately to my messages and I know he is on the other end of the line if I need him.
Matthew is an incredibly kind and empathetic individual. He reminds me of my strengths and is always there to support me and help me to get through whatever the day may bring. His humor is always refreshing and gives me a new way to think of a situation.
