I am a licensed clinical social worker in Philadelphia, PA who has worked in the mental health and social work fields for over 12 years.
As a therapist, I am guided by the belief that all people possess strengths and resilience that can be tapped into even during the most difficult of times. This strengths-based approach is how I enter all therapeutic relationships. You are the expert on yourself!
My style of therapy draws most often from Cognitive Behavioral Theory (CBT), motivational interviewing, and short-term solution-focused therapy models. These three intervention approaches are client-centered and seek to find clarity, purpose, and focus when challenges seem out of control.
I also have extensive training in understanding the impacts of trauma on the mind and body. I incorporate many breathing and meditation practices to help individuals calm the stress response, feel grounded in their bodies, and regulate intense emotions.
Finally, I am acutely aware of systemic inequalities that disadvantage some and privilege others. I work with individuals and groups who face discrimination due to race, gender, cultural background, immigration status, disabilities, religion, and age. It is very important to me that all people have a safe place, free of judgment, to explore their needs and strengths in therapy. Therefore I listen intently and provide validation and empathy with all clients.

Mary made a world of difference for my son. She earned his trust, provided realistic advice, and treated him with kindess, sensitivity, and respect.
Mary was a delight to work with. She's consistent and professional.
Kind, wise, has a sense of humor. I would work with her again in a heartbeat.
She’s pretty amazing at listening.
Helps me sees thing differently although we r still establishing trust, I am pretty confident she has my best interest. To help me remain calm and strengthen my mental health.
