Hi, my name is Lori De Leo. I am impressed that you are considering counseling, as it can be a difficult decision to make. You might appreciate a little background information about my education and work experience. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with an undergraduate degree in Psychology and a master’s degree in Clinical Social Work from the University of Louisville. I have been in the mental health profession for over 20 years working with all ages, with various cultural backgrounds, and in a variety of environments. For instance, I have, by choice, worked in numerous settings such as schools, psychiatric hospitals, residential treatment facilities, nursing homes, private homes, private practice, and outpatient counseling centers. I prefer outpatient counseling, such as the counseling provided through BetterHelp. In those environments I have provided individual, group, and family therapy, psychological assessments, crisis intervention, educational classes, consultation services, supervision to therapists, clinical director services, and intervention programs in the school and in the community.
I genuinely like working with children and teens to help them reach their goals and live happier lives. I have extensive experience working with teens and children. I use an eclectic approach when providing therapy based on my client’s needs and desires, such as, but not limited to, Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Play, Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Skills System, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Motivational Therapy, and Trauma Focused-CBT. I have experience working with various mental health issues, including, but not limited to, PTSD, depression, anxiety, aggression, emotion dysregulation, interpersonal/relational issues, parenting difficulties, psychosis, substance abuse, trauma/abuse, divorce/separation, personality disorders, ADHD, and grief. In addition, I have experience working with the intellectually (mild or moderate ID) and developmentally disabled population (i.e., Autism). I believe in providing my clients with a safe environment where they feel comfortable and free to share their thoughts and feelings without being judged. I would be honored to provide that safe place for you and build a trusting therapeutic relationship with you; I believe both are key to helping you reach your goals and live a happier life.
I can interact with you in several ways including messaging (like emailing), live chat (like texting), talking on the phone, and video conferencing. I have availability Monday through Friday during the day and some in the evening, with limited weekend availability. I find it helpful to participate in video sessions regularly, as it helps us get to know each other. I look forward to working with you!

Just started with Lori but she seems very genuine and caring. Ready to continue our sessions.
Words cannot fully express how fortunate I've been to have Lori as my confidant, my healer, and one of my biggest supporters during my most trying endeavors. She is so incredibly accepting, open-minded, and fully attentive, not only during our sessions, but also in the between periods leading to our next meeting. Lori is observant and and listens to me fully; we communicate so well that time always seems to fly right by for us. I've unearthed facets of myself I never imagined would find the light, and Lori helps me celebrate myself fully and energetically: my highs and my lows, my passions, my goals, my identity, my queerness, my whole self.
Lori has been extremely helpful in helping me through some difficult decisions and situations in our family. I'd highly recommend her for marriage, family, and children's counseling.
I look forward to talking to her each week. I'm all over the place but she keeps up and gives encouraging advice or notes. I can say anything and don't feel weird about it. Great experience and great match up!
Getting connected with Lori has honestly been life-changing. She's helped me analyze my anxiety, finding the root cause of it. Her focus on mindfulness has positively impacted me and my everyday life! Lori guided me out of my funk and has given me the tools and knowledge I need to understand and acknowledge my anxiety. I can't thank her enough!
My daughter really likes her counselor Lori. She can open up to her and that makes me feel good. I can see it has been helping my daughter. Thank you Lori De Leo.
Lori, has been an absolute pleasure to work with. She has helped me in so many ways I didn’t think were possible and approaches her clients with not only open arms, But an open heart. 11/10 would and will be recommending to all who need someone to talk to.
