About me

My name is Lindsay Haywood and I am a License Clinical Social Worker in North Carolina. I work with young children and adolescents. I have found that working through combining the best of psychodynamic techniques along with cognitive behavioral approaches, my clients leave therapy with a skill set that will help them for their lifetime. I have been in practice for more than eight years, I specialize in counseling young adults, teens and children. I spent the early years of my career working in community mental health in an outpatient setting in North Carolina where I served as an Intensive In Home therapist. I specialize in helping young people with suicidal thoughts, anxiety, anger outbursts, defiant attitudes, and depression.
For young children and adolescents engaging in psychotherapy allows for the opportunity to open oneself up to the possibility of change, and the chance to achieve the emotional well -being one deserves. Psychotherapy for adolescent clients focuses on their ability to find a comfortable stance between their own independence and their peers and adults.
Therapy helps teens to explore different areas of their lives: sexuality, identity, relationships. Many young adults struggle with a variety of emotional challenges. An inability to manage emotions and behaviors effectively may negatively impact relationships. Addressing these, and related issues will help set the stage for a healthy and happier future.
Specific approaches/techniques used include: cognitive behavioral, including acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) and dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT); mindfulness and meditation; motivational interviewing; strengths-based and affirming.

I am available mornings, evenings, and weekends to allow for flexibility in our busy lives.
I look forward to hearing from you!

Lindsay has been my first ever therapist, I was nervous about what to expect but she has given me great confidence in this process. She offers invaluable advice which is both professional and down-to-earth. You feel like you're being spoken to as a person, not just as a client. I'm confident that she will help many others achieve their potential. Many thanks, Lindsay.

I was skeptical about the match process I have to admit. Lindsay removed all doubt immediately during our first 1:1 session. I know I am in a safe space, in very capable hands with her and she makes her self available to me when I need support. Lindsay offers tools and resources for me that help me work through my issues and is a compassionate listener. Anyone who is blessed to work with her will find a soft place to fall and someone in their corner working for their best interests. Highly recommend!
