Linda Cooke

About Me

My name is Linda Cooke and I am a licensed clinical social worker with licenses in Kentucky and Georgia. I have been in practice since 1998 when I graduated from The University of Louisville with a master degree in social work. I studied abroad in Europe while working on my bachelor degree from Spalding University. I have worked in community mental health, three inpatient psychiatric hospitals (including a forensic unit), partial and intensive outpatient care as well as an employee assistance program (EAP). I had a successful private practice in Kentucky for nine years and most recently I have worked with active duty soldiers and dependents.

My approach to therapy is goal oriented and client centered because I believe that clients are the experts of their lives and I work hard to meet them where they are. I utilize multiple psychological treatment modalities including Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Crisis Intervention, Mindfulness, Psycho-education, and Solution-Focused Therapy helping clients identify their goals as they gain insight into changes needed for them to live their ‘best lives.’

I have experience working with teens 13 to 19 for many years in different settings. I worked on a residential unit for adolescents and teens and also in my private practice. I have worked with military dependent adolescents and teens. I have provided individual therapy as well as group therapy.

I know it is difficult for teens to talk about their feelings and to trust anyone with their private struggles. I have been able to build that rapport and gain trust with this population and enjoy hearing their prospective about their world and the unique challenges they face as they navigate through this period of their lives.

I would welcome the opportunity to work with your teen and also help you with the parenting challenges this stage of life presents.

We have only had 2 sessions and feel like we have made more progress in 2 visits than we have with other counselors in 2 months. I’d highly recommend her.

Only 2 sessions in, but I get a good vibe. Understanding, non judgemental.

Linda is extremely easy to talk to. She listens to things and also remembers them. She’s consistent in what she does as well. Highly recommend.
