I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with the state of North Carolina. I began my journey into social work and counseling after being honorably discharged from the US Army in 2006. Due to a lengthy combat tour overseas in Iraq, I was able to gain firsthand knowledge and understanding about the devastating effects Post-traumatic Stress Disorder. Close friends of mine were irrevocably changed before my eyes, and I needed to understand why that transition took place. I utilized my G.I. Bill and obtained my Master’s Degree. I have been in the social work field for over five years, working in various settings: veteran’s programs, residential treatment facilities for youth, outpatient treatment and a substance abuse treatment facility. I have training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing and Trauma-Informed Care.
My belief is that real change can occur in one’s life when they work with a therapist who is genuine and unbiased; someone who has a desire to see others moving forward and living their lives to the fullest. It would be a true honor to be that individual for you or your loved one.

I want to say that Leah has been amazing!!!! I would give her 10 stars if I could!! She has certainly not only helped me with myself but also my relationship. It is stronger than ever and I honestly can't thank her enough for all that she has done for us!! I highly recommend her!!!
Ms. Leah is a great therapist and she is so relatable and down to earth. I wish her nothing but the best in her profession.
Leah has been amazing. She is very responsive to my concerns and I am so glad my child feels comfortable sharing and speaking to her!
I have only had 2 sessions with Leah but she listens so well. She is also funny and personable so I don’t feel like I’m talking to a dry person simply taking notes on my problems. I’d recommend her to anyone!
Ms. Schumacher is extremely kind and straightforward.
Leah helped me identify why I was feeling so much pain and hurt from a recent fallout. She’s supportive and a good listener.
She is awesome, and always makes me look forward to sessions and always listens to me. Couldn’t ask for more help from someone.
Leah is very compassionate and helpful. She both directs the discussion AND listens well and remembers what you tell her. She's also VERY responsive. You don't have to wait a long time to get a reply.
We have tried working with other counselors in the past, but never had great results and we were repeating a lot of the same mistakes. Working with Leah has given me confidence in repairing my relationship when both of us were losing hope. Leah is a blessing in our relationship and I can’t recommend her enough.
Leah is awesome!
