"We worry about what a child will become tomorrow, yet we forget they are someone today." ~Stacia Tauscher
As teens, it is often difficult to manage the multitude of transitions adolescence brings. Oftentimes, they are left feeling misunderstood, misplaced, and misguided; sitting idle with feelings of inadequacy, searching for purpose and identity. The pressure from society, peers, and family can evoke depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, and even anger; creating a sense of low self-worth. Your teen has managed things long enough with tomorrow's worries, it's time they're afforded the opportunity of today's hope.
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Substance Abuse Counselor-In Training, licensed in the states of Wisconsin and Texas, with over 5 years of experience working as a Psychotherapist. I received my Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology from Alverno College and my Master of Social Work Degree from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. I have worked with children and adolescents with a wide range of mental health concerns in both the inpatient and outpatient settings. I take particular interest in working with teens regarding issues related to peer and family conflict, anger management, distress tolerance, healthy boundaries, effective communication, and low self-esteem. My counseling style is person-centered, providing motivation and an interactive platform, while using a "gentle challenging" approach. I believe in providing an empathetic environment, free of judgment and inclusive of trust, while using a variety of treatment modalities, including but not limited to, cognitive-behavioral, dialectical behavioral, motivational interviewing, and solution-focused counseling.
It takes great humility for parents to acknowledge their child's need for help and commendable courage for teens to present themselves vulnerable enough to express their emotions. I am here to assist your teen in finding their future voice and self, while encouraging them to remember their value today.

LaQuita is great about checking in on me. When I first reached out for help, her emails provided the support that I needed. Things have improved since then, but I still appreciate her weekly touch base.
