My name is Kilsis Julia and I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the State of California. I started my Social Work career in NY at a residential treatment facility. I started as a direct care worker working with boys and girls, the ages range from 12 to 19. I then moved up to a case management and learned about different resources in the community and the mental health system. I went back to school and received my Master's in Social Work in 2011. I then became a social worker at the residential treatment facility and worked with adolescents and their families or foster families. The treatment center was geared towards children with trauma, sexual, physical, emotional abuse, abandonment and other traumas. I worked with adolescent with various diagnosis ranging from ADHD, schizoaffective disorder, bipolar, borderline personality disorder depression and others. I have been trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Trauma Focused Behavioral Therapy, Motivational interviewing, Loss and Bereavement, Crisis intervention and Structured Psychotherapy for Adolescents Responding to Chronic Stress (SPARCS).
I am personable, easy to talk to, empathetic, honest and loyal. My approach is the holistic approach, mind, body and soul. Your physical health, mental health and emotional health is all related and important to work on. I meet the client where they are at, where they want to start and what they feel they want to share. I tend to have active interactions in therapy and if needed just active listening. Everyone is different and the approach with the individual should be as such. I have experience working with trauma, depression, ADHD, Anxiety, relationships, LGBT and group therapy.
I look forward to working with you and your teen!

As a parent, I appreciate the time Kilsis Julia Tugores has taken with my daughter. She is very flexible with her hours but makes sure to connect AND I see a noticeable difference in my daughter's abilty to cope with situations. My daughter is also quite diligent about keeping her appointments as well which tells me she appreciates the feedback she gets as well as her ability to vent to someone besides her parents.
I used to think distance therapy might not be effective, but now realize it's the best choice we ever could have made. I actually tried local places and they were either horrible or inflexible with their hours. This is the best bang for the buck. Keep up the good work teen counseling and thank you Julia for helping to bring back the daughter we used to know. All the best!
I’ve participated in therapy before and Kilsis has easily been the easiest to work with. She’s great at asking the right questions that challenge me appropriately and shares the perfect amount of feedback. I feel encouraged by her and she notices even the smallest of improvements. I can’t thank her enough!
