Kathryn Walkley

About Me

My name is Kathryn, but you are welcome to call me Katie. I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with 11 year of experience providing individual, group, and family counseling services in clinic, home, school, community, and online settings. I have worked specifically with children and teens for the entirety of my professional career. I work with children and teens with a variety of concerns including anger management, trauma and abuse, depression, anxiety, foster care and adoption, involvement with juvenile justice, ADHD, impulsive and disruptive behavior, substance use, self-harm, suicidal ideation, social skills, bullying, and social media concerns. I have experience using solution-focused, cognitive behavioral therapy, structural family therapy, and art-based/creative approaches.

I have an easy, relaxed, nonjudgmental personality. I am respectful and patient with everyone I work with. I believe that the therapeutic relationship is of the utmost importance - the best techniques and strategies in the world will not be effective if you don't trust the person working with you. I work hard to build and maintain that trust throughout my relationships with clients.

I appreciate you taking the time to read through this introduction and hope that, whether you select me as your counselor or not, you find the healing, hope, and change you're looking for. It takes a great deal of strength to seek out help during times of difficulty. You're making a wonderful choice by taking care of yourself and your mental health. Take care and best wishes.
