About me

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Arizona and I bring over 18 years of experience working with a diverse population including children and adolescents. I was the Director of a Pediatric Intensive Outpatient program working with 6-12 year olds who struggled with emotional and behavioral issues. in addition to group sessions with the children, I conducted family therapy sessions in order to help parent educate on setting boundaries with their children and have a better understanding of what the child might be needing to address their issues. I collaborated with the onsite psychiatrist and nurse in oder to ensure proper medication management and talk therapy was the best prognosis and outcome for the child. I worked in a residential eating disorder clinic for adolescents focusing on mindfulness training, dialectical behavioral training, gestalt therapy, suicide prevention, and cognitive behavioral therapy. The clinical approaches taken with these individuals was extremely beneficial and had positive outcomes for success.

I would describe my counseling style as a more direct approach as well as empathic. I will always show compassion for my clients and I will always be objective and non-judgmental. I always want my clients to feel safe during our time together and I work very hard to provide that type of environment I believe in setting appropriate boundaries with my clients and engaging and interacting with them as opposed to telling and directing them on what to do. I like to help my clients practice autonomy. I will always be sensitive and respectful to my clients and help make them feel they are my number one priority during our sessions. My therapeutic approaches are cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, mindfulness training and solution focused therapy. Depending on the direction of the session with client, I will cater to meet your needs accordingly.

Reviews

These quotes represent just a few of the many positive reviews that we have received for Julie Ocampo. We don't pay anyone to provide their review and they are all made voluntarily. Some people's experience receiving therapy with Teen Counseling might be different.

Julie has been wonderful in listening to the concerns in the family. We have appreciated the support she's provided to our teen working through topics we were not equipped to manage. She has encouraged our teen to focus on independence, self-reliance, and accountability in a way that our daughter has felt empowered and on her terms. Julie has been tremendously helpful and communicated quickly, as well as included us as parents when needed. It's been an amazing experience.

Thank you for all you do and what you have provided for me and my daughter. I'm glad our first experience on this platform was with a caring, thoughtful, knowledgeable therapist.

She’s an amazing therapist. Luckily I found a therapist I clicked with first try. It’s my first time doing therapy and I’ve had huge breakthroughs with my mental health and habits in such a short time while working with Julie.
She’s honest, straight forward and easy to be comfortable and honest with. I 100% recommend her. I appreciate that she’s flexible, she would meet me in different ways (video call, voice call), and these different things (besides her having a very easy and fun personality) helped me get closer with her and have a good relationship with therapy.

I just love her. She listens to my concerns and guide me to find the solution that is best for me but never tells me what to do. She understands me.?
