About Me

My name is Julia Torres, and helping families and children has always been a passion of mine. I have been a mental health provider for over 22 years with 15 years directly working with adolescents. Adolescents is a time of change and growth and I enjoy helping teens navigate this time in their lives. I have a master’s degree in social work with in an emphasis in youth and family from the University of Denver and a doctorate degree from the School of Public Service Leadership at Capella University. I am warm, caring, and non-judgmental, and I always keep confidentiality. My therapeutic specialties include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), Family Systems, Play Therapy, Trauma-Focused Therapy, and Strength-Based Therapy. In my work with families and children, my niche areas are childhood anxieties, childhood depression, family therapy, and childhood behavior issues. I look forward to working with you.

Dr. Torres is amazing with the things she is doing with my 13 year old daughter. My daughter has recently been bullied which caused her to be angry and lack of motivation skills was 0. No confidence in herself. She would not go anywhere or do anything. When my daughter spoke with Dr Torres for the first time, a few days later she picked up herself and started to go out and wanted to do things with me and by herself, she also wants to sign up for dance. I was completely amazed, everyone I spoke to was amazed.

I'd also like to add that Dr. Torres is kind, patient, calm and very warm and friendly to me and my daughter. Every time I tell my daughter Dr. Torres is calling, a big smile comes on her face, it's so wonderful to see that.

I know will still have a long journey to go, and I cant wait to see what happens next, I am so glad I signed my daughter up for this. Please keep up the excellent work.

Julia, is fantastic. She is understanding and compassionate and guides with a gentle manner and holds your hand as she is working to get to the core of the issue for a resolution to healing. She is very supportive when she knows the pain of tearing down the walls is occurring or coming. I feel very safe in her care and guidance. And that is something that is very difficult for me to give. Julia makes it easy and safe. Julia is a genuine example of a honest and true individual with the ability to help.

Dr. Torres is absolutely a delightful person and has helped me through anxieties at a difficult work situation. We had weekly video sessions. She was always friendly and supportive. She sometimes draw on her own experience which I found valuable to see my situation in different lenses. I felt safe opening up to her. Towards the end of two months I had a better perspective in life. If I need help in the future I would love to come back to Dr. Torres!

I had sessions with Dr. Julia for one month and two weeks, and I had dramatic changes in my life. I came up to the idea, that thoughts can be controlled, and I got this skill with her help. With her help, I learned how to filter irrational thoughts that gave me worries, and now, every time I am having a thought like this, I am able to get rid of it easily.
As a person, who talks very very much, I can say that she never interrupts you and listens to all you say. Maybe you can have a session with her when she will be able to listen for an hour without saying a word. She creates a warm atmosphere, where you can talk about literally anything. Just put all that you think, take out all your worries, tell her what makes you stressed, and you will be surprised, how easily you will be able to get rid all of these with her help.

Dr. Torres offers a lot of face time and support for anxiety and depression. I felt better after only one session with her. She is kind and understanding and I really feel heard.

Dr. Torres is an amazing counsellor. She is compassionate and really cares how I am doing throughout the week. She contacts me to see how I am throughout the week which is great because I can chat about my week even if it’s going well or not.
