About me
Welcome! I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 8 years of experience working as a mental health therapist. I started my career working with children from the ages of 12-18, and it is still my passion. I am currently working in a school for grades k to 12 , to support student's with behavioral and emotional difficulties. I have the most experience working with those struggling with: depression, anxiety, family issues, peer related stressors, relationship issues, parenting issues, and low self-esteem.
As a counselor I strive to be warm, kind and compassionate. The client/therapist relationship is extremely important, it should be built on trust and respect so that the client feels comfortable to face their challenges. My therapeutic approach combines cognitive behavior therapy, solution focused, and motivational interviewing counseling styles. I want you to leave each counseling session with more confidence to face your challenges than when you started.
I look forward to being able to start this journey with you and be your guide to a better you!

Reviews
These quotes represent just a few of the many positive reviews that we have received for Joelle Swistak. We don't pay anyone to provide their review and they are all made voluntarily. Some people's experience receiving therapy with Teen Counseling might be different.
She's a wonderful counselor with a lot of insight and options for helping with your mental health
My daughter has been working with Joelle for about 9 months and has really enjoyed the process. She’s managing stress and anxiety better and is able to process how she’s feeling. Joelle checks in with me (her mother) and I appreciate the support she has given us!
Joelle hasn't had an easy time with me - I joined teen counseling at a very tough time with lots going on and I feel like if I were her, my head would be spinning with everything I'm dumping on her, but her's isn't. She's been super helpful and understanding and I can't believe how much better she's helped me feel just in the past couple weeks, without barely having the time to get to know me yet. I'm looking forward to the future and our talks moving forward.
I have every confidence in my counselor. And I gave her all of the highest marks for every question. Hopefully it came out that way because my fingers are a little swollen today
Joelle is a great person to talk to. Nonjudgmental and very friendly. Can’t wait for our next session.
