About me
I am an LPC in the state of Virginia and also am a National Certified Counselor. I earned my PhD in Counselor Education and Supervision in 2019 and earned my Master in Mental Health Counseling in 2013. I have been working in the mental health field since 2010. I have worked with children, adolescents, and young adults. I have provided individual, family, and group counseling during my professional career. Clinical issues I have most experience include depression, anxiety, self-esteem, bipolar disorder, and borderline personality disorder. I have received training in DBT, EMDR, and TF-CBT. I have experience with providing therapy to adolescents in the school setting, within the home, acute treatment, and in residential treatment facilities.
My approach to therapy is holistic, person centered and existentialist. I believe it is important to develop a strong rapport with adolescents by conveying empathy and understanding for the challenges they are experiencing. I believe the therapy process should be guided by the individual and should be focused on goals the individual would like to achieve.
Life can be challenging and or overwhelming at times in which therapy provides an unbiased and supportive platform for processing, problem-solving, and encouragement to assist with getting through the more difficult times. Self-care, self-reflection, and self-development are key to reaching an authentic self.

Reviews
These quotes represent just a few of the many positive reviews that we have received for Dr. Jeri Cox. We don't pay anyone to provide their review and they are all made voluntarily. Some people's experience receiving therapy with Teen Counseling might be different.
The best.
Dr. Cox is always there to listen. She has listened and has guided me with helpful solutions. Forever grateful to have Dr. Cox!
Dr. Cox is great. When I started therapy, I didn't know what to expect. There are times I do not feel comfortable, but it is because I have become so comfortable with not being ok. Dr. Cox is helping me explore so many options to why I am not happy and what I can do to change. Typically I don't know what I want to talk about during our sessions, but we always find something to help me learn how to become a better version of me.
