Jennifer Maddox

(M.A., LPC)

About Me

My name is Jennifer Maddox and I enjoy being a licensed professional counselor. I earned my Master of Arts degree as a Professional Counselor from Liberty University in 2016. I also hold a Master of Arts degree in Human Services with a specialization in health and wellness. I have experience working with anxiety, depression, alcoholism, family and relationship conflicts, grief, anger management, bipolar disorders, adjustment disorders, adolescents, children, trauma, and stress.

Counseling provides an avenue to navigate through life’s challenges in a healthy and productive manner. As a counselor I strive for my clients to gain self-awareness and self-acceptance, for we are ultimately responsible for our own well-being. However, with adolescents they are not able to make the best choices regarding their well-being.
I believe that guidance and family are very important in the lives of teens at such stages in life. I try to uplift the teen while providing a safe environment for them to decompress. The goals, progress, and personality will determine which techniques I use when interacting with adolescents. I incorporate an eclectic approach, often favoring cognitive-behavioral, and humanistic therapies.

This is my first time working with a therapist; I had a lot of fear around it, but working with Jennifer has provided me with so much relief and calm and hope. She is easy to talk to, very encouraging, and always stretches my thinking. Highly recommend!

Jennifer is very supportive and understanding. She's able to take your feedback and challenge you to think more about what you're experiencing and how those experiences are impacting your emotional and mental well-being. She has helped me to expand upon my perspective. She is very empathetic and fair. She also has encouraged me to revisit my spirituality as a necessary facet of who I am. I would recommend Jennifer to anyone who is matched with her, based on their criteria and needs. She is a lovely woman and a comforting therapist.
