About Me
Anxiety is very common in adolescents because teenagers face new experiences every day, they have more opportunities and challenges and they want to be more independent. Some of the challenges they face are negative body image and the need to be accepted in society, they have difficulty prioritizing their time, feeling the need to give into peer pressure versus parental expectations is very difficult for them and bullying can be a big factor in causing anxiety and depression. They are at risk to perform risky sexual behavior and are tempted with drugs and alcohol. As a result of these life challenges many teens today live at a very superficial level, with no acceptance and very little positive affirmation. They are expected to learn how to live from the internet and television, where they find little emphasis on moral value or personal excellence. Parents can help their child by learning what their child is facing daily. They also need to know they are loved unconditionally that you’ll be there to support them no matter what. Remind them that anxiety and fear is common among teens, talk to your child about how they are feeling and give them a safe place to process how they feel without judgement.

Reviews
These quotes represent just a few of the many positive reviews that we have received for Jean Kimbrel. We don’t pay anyone to provide their review and they are all made voluntarily. Some people's experience receiving therapy with Teen Counseling might be different.
She is wise and supportive. She has helped me immensely!
Jean Kimbrel is a very good counselor and the first one to really help with our marriage. Her approach to things is different than others - she is more personal and direct. We had already gone through a few more formal "systematic" approaches, and they were so cookie-cutter and didn't work for us. If Jean is using a system, it is only as a backdrop and not limiting to our expression in any way. We were very bad off when we started and have made a lot of progress working with her. Strongly recommended, especially if you've tried other marriage counselors to no avail and want/need a different approach.
Mrs Kimbrel is a fantastic therapist. I would recommend her to everyone.
She asks questions and listens. But she also doesn't let me run away with pure BS. I trust that she understands my situation and is trying her best to help. Level headed and even keeled. I appreciate her expert opinion.
Jean is a great listener and is able to recall the details I've shared with her. What I like is that she doesn't just tell me what I want to hear. She challenges me in a way I really need.
I have worked with over a dozen therapists in my life of 36 years. I say this to add weight to what I am about to say for my review of Jean. Jean has been a huge benefit for my mental health. She listens to my problems and helps me brainstorm ideas before helping to define and mutually agree upon an action plan. I feel like she cares about me personally and has a gift for catering her style, exercises, and insights to my specific situation. I am impressed with the caliber of therapist I found here and she is my first recommendation for anyone in need of a therapist.
Fantastic
So far I think Jean has been a help to me. She takes the time and I think she understands my situation. I think she understands what type of anxiety I am going through
I came to therapy a mess. I knew that I needed it but the timing wasn’t right in the past. Jean is and was a God send for me. She had a way of simplifying life and allowing me the space to process and reflect. I loved the homework assignments that she gave me throughout my therapeutic healing process. I felt actively engaged throughout my time spent in therapy. She’s a great listener and provided me with objective feedback. My head space and overall wellness is the best it’s ever been. Thanks so much, teen counseling . And many thang thanks to Jean!
She is very awesome and thorough. She takes the time to listen and provide valuable feedback.
I’ve covered so much ground already in just the couple of weeks with Jean. She’s comforting yet challenges me, she feels like a friend and it feels like she genuinely cares to help make a difference. I look forward to my sessions now.
She listens well and gives great feedback
Jean is a compassionate yet no nonsense therapist. I appreciate and respond well to her approach and I am grateful for her help.

She is a very patient and professional counselor. She listens and is very flexible and understanding.
I haven't known Gene long but in just a short time I already feel better. I believe she is not only highly qualified but has the capacity to understand situations that are not typical. I believe picture sessions with her will Empower me in my life.
Jean is very helpful she listens to you and gives unbiased feedback she helps you work through things and dealing with your issues i would highly recommend her.
Jean has been very supportive and has helped provide many resources to also help my situation. She's incredibly genuine and can tell her heart goes into her clients.
Jean was very helpful and communicated in a casual and approachable way. We were very happy with her help and would recommend her to others. We are stopping counseling only because we feel we have successfully worked out our biggest issues.
She’s a doll. Very receptive, and helpful
Jean is very understanding and compassionate. I'm happy we're working with her!
Jean has been a blessing, she has helped me find confidence, find Healthy coping mechanisms, and heal from my past. I would recommend her to anyone.
Jean is a great listener. She also has life experience that directly correlated with mine and enabled her to offer wise, real insight. Jean is excellent and I would recommend her to anyone going through a tough time.
I have only used Jean for a short time frame, but so far, I really like her. She seems to be very kind and empathetic, and I look forward to working with her more!
My experience counseling with Jean was very helpful. She is an attentive listener, shows a lot of compassion for your problems, and offers plenty of resources to help develop the skills you learn in counseling. I'd also recommend Jean for anyone searching for Christian counseling, as it was encouraging to connect scripture to applicable life situations throughout sessions as well.
She's awesome. I feel comfortable talking to her about anything, and feel that she cares about my well-being, which is the most important thing when seeking counseling. I also really like the text messaging and journaling options. If I'm at work and struggling I have the option of texting, and when I'm home I have the ability to record my thoughts and reflections in journal mode - and can share or not. Jean is great, but so is the platform that makes help so accessable in so many different ways.
Jean is a wonderful counselor!
I’m satisfied with where things are going
Excellent.
