About me

Hi,

My name is Jay and I am a licensed clinical social worker and therapist who has been providing mental health services directly to people for over 20 years. In addition, I worked in the mental health field for 3 years prior to earning my Masters Degree in Social Work, making it 25 years in the profession of helping others. I have worked successfully with children and adolescents with a wide range of both behavioral challenges as well as struggles such as depression, anxiety, stress, ADHD, relationship issues, substance use and abuse, and I have assisted survivors of trauma such as abuse and neglect. In addition, I have worked closely with parents throughout my entire career, assisting them with issues such as communication, behavior management and discipline, with the goal of partnering and educating in order to enhance your family's overall sense of emotional closeness and safety with each other.

My therapy style tends to be warm, supportive, flexible, relaxed and can easily be adaptable to whatever you feel is important to you and your child. I treat everyone with the utmost respect and consider myself to be very sensitive and compassionate towards others. My approach is eclectic and tends to be a blend of several styles, including cognitive-behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, humanism, strengths-based, experiential, strategic and goal-focused with unconditional support serving as the common foundation. I tailor sessions to your specific needs and create treatment goals with diligence and an eye on your unique circumstances. I prefer to collaborate in a partnership with you and your child in which everyone feels supported and validated.

I know that it takes courage and strength in order to look inwards and consider making a shift in any part of your life and I appreciate your willingness to do so and it's important to know that you do not have to do it alone.

I would welcome and greatly appreciate the opportunity to help you and your child meet your specific needs and improve your life experiences.

I look forward to meeting and working with you!

Jay somehow is completely professional but also playful and approachable, which is perfect for me! He listens to me and validates me in ways I didn’t think I needed. He’s effective and sharp! I give him my highest recommendation for anyone struggling with ADHD.

Therapy has been a new and positive experience for me that I would suggest to anyone - both with regards to therapy as a whole and teencounseling.com specifically. Jason quickly welcomed me with open arms, a warm smile, and was able to determine very quickly the driving priorities, struggles, and loves of my day to day life.

Jay is really kind and easy to talk to. I have always felt awkward in therapy because I was never sure what to say or how to express what was bothering me, but Jay asks all the right questions. It’s clear he really wants to understand and make you feel heard.
