Welcome! My name is Jamesia Mathis and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Georgia. I earned a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Mercer University and hold a Bachelor’s of Science in Sociology from Reinhardt University. I have over 5 years of experience working in the mental health field. I have experience with individual and group counseling from various settings such as crisis stabilization, partial-hospitalization,intensive-outpatient, and outpatient for both adolescents and adults. While in these settings, I have become well versed in addiction and substance abuse, depression, anxiety, mood disorders, trauma/abuse, relationship issues, grief self-harm and suicidal ideations.
I believe that one’s thoughts and feelings play a fundamental role in behaviors and that building awareness of negative thinking patterns and maladaptive behaviors can be utilized to initiate a process of change. I work in partnership with you to explore your current and past experiences to help you to identify the root cause of your struggle and explore ways to help you to gain more peace and happiness in your life via conquering your struggle. As such, therapy with me will involve helping you to know that although technically a noun, therapy requires action; it requires a readiness and willingness to address that which pains you.
Therapy is no easy feat. I know that it is not easy to open up to someone about your deepest pains and secrets; some of whom you may have never admitted to yourself. We will move at a pace that is most comfortable for you. I thank you for choosing me to help you navigate this often turbulent journey to mental health wellness.

Jamesia has been amazing to work with. I have been thankful to have the ability to message her and have meetings with her. She is kind, patient, and listens well.
My daughter has had three sessions with Jamesia and felt a good connection right away. While I do not ask for specifics I do know that my daughter feels very comfortable with her and that is enough for me.
So far so good! I’m very impress with how things are going.
Jamesia helped me alot. I'm so grateful for her. She really listens to understand. I feel like I I keep learning more about myself with each session.
She always validates my feelings and makes me feel heard. She helps me look at things from new angles and try to understand things from a different point of view.
Jamesia is the best! She’s sweet, understanding and relatable. She pushes me to step out of my comfort zone which has helped me grow in so many ways!
SHE’S BEYOND AMAZING!
Awesome therapist who helps build your mental and emotional toolkit. Just amazing!
In only 3 sessions, Jamesia has earned my trust, opened my eyes to why I need therapy, and has me feeling hopeful that I'll get back to being the real me.
I like that Jamesia is very thorough and patient with me. She also listens to everything that I say, not just the superficial comment. She seeks to understand the meaning behind the statement or expression. This is most helpful.
She is absolutely wonderful. She always speaks in a calm tone and helps me work through my daily stressors as well as my treatment. I can message her at anytime and she responds as soon as she can, which is normally pretty fast. She's very understanding and never treats me as though I'm in the wrong and she's helping me to feel better about myself.
Where to begin honestly… I’ve been working with Jamesia for mayne right at a year now and it’s honestly thanks to her helping me peel back the layers of trauma and really understand why I do the things I do and think the way I think that has allowed me to be able to grow into myself and become who I really am deep down. I want to say thank you so much because honestly without her guidance and expertise, I don’t know where I’d be!
Previously, I struggled to find a therapist who could help me work through the depression and anxiety I felt for years. Jamesia has been the best therapist I've had since I decided to start therapy and I am very grateful to her for the compassion and guidance she has shown me since working with her. She truly listens to my concerns without judgment, and that has made all the difference in my recovery. Thank you for all of your hard work.
This was my first experience with an actual therapist and I couldn't have been partnered with someone better! Jamesia is open minded, patient, understanding, down to earth, kind and extremely warm. She gives great resources and support and I couldn't be more thankful for her!

Excellent therapist!!! To say the least. She listens and gives very to the point answers. She leave me thinking after the sessions and I love that.
Jamesia has helped me so much with my anxiety and my communication skills. I would recommend her to others without hesitation. Her support has been so incredible for me.
She is easy to talk to, kind, and provides very concrete steps to deal with stress, grief, and anxiety. I was hesitant about this process but she makes it relieving and rewarding.
