Jackie Holmes

About Me

Are you struggling and looking for support and someone to help navigate through a difficult time in your life? There is hope!
My name is Jackie Holmes. I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) in the state of California. I have been working in the field of counseling for the past 10 years. I have worked in a variety of settings including schools, intensive outpatient therapy, private practice, and group settings. I have a private counseling practice where I live, and have worked as an educator in the public school setting for over 25 years (teacher for 16 years and school counselor for 9 years). I use evidenced based treatments, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and Mindfulness. I stay involved in ongoing training in order to gain new insights as to how I can best serve the needs of the individuals I work with. I have worked with children, adolescents, and adults. I have experience working with individuals who have concerns with anxiety, depression, grief, family conflict, relationship concerns, and trauma. I also have a lot of experience working with issues of parenting and working with individuals with cognitive disabilities.
I believe one of the most important aspects to seeking a therapist is ensuring they are a good fit. It’s essential that you find someone who you feel comfortable to talk with. My style as a therapist is friendly, open-minded, non-judgmental, empathetic, and interactive. I try to get to know you, help you discover your strengths, help you establish goals, then work with you to attain them. I think it is important to develop a plan together and adjust it accordingly as we move along. I believe you will find me easy to talk to. I am casual in my style, but determined and focused when it comes to our work together. I do not judge or discriminate. I invite diversity in my practice. I am excited to work with you regardless of your lifestyle choices, religion, cultural background or race.
My dedication to the field of mental health is driven by my personal experiences. I see firsthand the daily challenges individuals have coping with their concerns. Working in the school system, I have seen the difficulties that students encounter regarding identity, stress, bullying, relationships, and peer pressure. A word that defines my practice is “Hope”. I think counseling is a positive way to discover that one can grow and and find hope in their situation. Having hope is important to the very act of being a human being. As Dr. Judith Rich writes, “Hope is a match in a dark tunnel, a moment of light, just enough to reveal the path ahead, and ultimately the way out.” Finding hope and growing is a process and takes time, but I believe together we can work toward your goals. I would love the opportunity to work with you!

I have met with her twice so far via video chat, but we have messaged a few more times throughout. She has been amazing so far. She helps me feel like I’m actually being listened to during therapy and not just pushed on like just another client. I have been iffy with seeking help because of past experiences but she has definitely helped me feel comfortable. I look forward to what we are going to be able to hopefully accomplish. Love her.
