About me

Hi, I’m Hilary! I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LISW-CP) in South Carolina and Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in Oregon. I have around 10 years of experience working with clients with a wide range of concerns including trauma and PTSD, depression, anxiety, substance use, self-esteem, stress, motivation, health and wellness, anger, parenting, coping with life challenges and adjustments to life changes. I have worked with adults, adolescents and children in inpatient, residential, and outpatient settings.

My passion is to help teens and their families move forward by taking the steps needed to move in the direction wanted. To do that, I use evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Motivational Interviewing. I am warm, gentle and empathetic, yet firm and will push teens to reach their goals through honesty, support and effective techniques. As everyone is different, I also tailor these approaches to the specific needs, goals, and situations of each client. When working with teens, I also strive to build on each client’s strengths and fostering their relationships with their family, peers and support network. I work with each client to develop and practice coping skills to manage the stress, changes and turmoil that can occur during the teenage years.

I often reinforce to my clients that if you continue to do what you’ve always done, you’ll continue to get what you’ve always gotten. So, what does all of this mean if you choose to begin therapy? It simply means we will work together to figure out how to change. We will find some thoughts and behaviors that may be keeping you “stuck,” and find more helpful thoughts and behaviors that lead to feeling better emotionally and reaching your goals.

I also believe the basis of any life-changing journey is a strong therapeutic relationship, and I enjoy spending time getting to know each client to foster that support.

When you and your teen are ready, I look forward meeting you, getting to know you, and supporting and empowering you to reach your goals and live a fulfilling life.

Hilary is truly an exceptional therapist. I was ready to give up on therapy until Hilary was recommended to me. She’s incredibly insightful, knowledgeable, kind, and extremely well spoken. Not only does she help me with processing life’s many inconsistencies and troubles, but also helps me be kinder to myself and accept all parts of me. I am not sure if I’ll ever be able to fully put into words how much she has helped me. I now recommend therapy to all of my friends and family because of my exceptional therapist.
