About me

“It's not how many times you get knocked down that count, it's how many times you get back up. ” —George A. Custer

Thank you for taking the time to consider me as your counselor. I have a strong passion for social justice, advocating for the rights of vulnerable populations, and working with developing adults. My passion took me from work as a homeless and crisis domestic violence case manager after college, to graduate school for my masters in social work. I have worked mainly with children and teenagers, focusing on stress, anxiety, depression, self-esteem, and lots of different social and relational issues. I have experience in working with social anxiety, Autism, ADHD, and developmental disabilities. I have experience working with Christian counseling and can provide biblically-based counseling to those interested. I have experience working with personality disorders, mood disorders, sexual disorders, and various trauma-based concerns. I have my Bachelors of Psychology and my Masters of Social Work from the University of Illinois Champaign-Urbana, Clinical Social Work Licensure, and my school endorsement (Type 73). I specialize in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Rational-Emotive Therapy, Christian Counseling, Motivational Interviewing, Brief Solution Focused Therapy, and Dialectical-Behavioral Therapy techniques. I have certifications in Mindfulness Techniques and Crisis Intervention Prevention. I will listen, try to understand what your therapy goals are, and meet you where you are at. I believe in utilizing a Humanistic approach to clients, which means I tend to be client-centered, and work with individuals on achieving their personal potential. There are no bad questions, there is no one whose situation is beyond hope. I am ready if you are willing to start your journey to a better spot with me today.
