About me

If you're a parent looking for treatment for your child, you likely are looking for someone who not only has professional credentialing to address you child's concern but also someone who can make your child feel comfortable; children and teens can be so hesitant to share their issues and concerns HONESTLY so building a relationship with young adults can sometimes be half the battle! I have an undergraduate degree in Education and a Masters degree in Social Work. I have spent a large portion of my personal and professional life coaching and teaching youth. I look forward to working with you and your child. My full profile can be seen below.

If you're looking for a clinician who will woo you with complex professional jargon and analyze your every action and every word in painstaking detail, I'm likely not the therapist for you. If you're looking for a therapist who will make you feel valued and heard, can sit comfortably with you through very difficult, complex and oftentimes confusing feelings without judgement, provide honest (sometimes difficult to hear) feedback and integrate some humor into treatment while making real progress toward healing and your goals, it's nice to meet you! We can tackle these issues together and we are on the same team.

My name is Gianna and I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Certified Clinical Trauma Professional in Illinois state who has been working with clients for over five years both in person and remotely. I am a victim advocate at a large police department, serving victims of violent crimes such as domestic violence and sexual abuse; I have extensive training in these issues and I've made trauma my professional focal point. I enjoy not only working with victims of these crimes but also significant others (partners, parents, children, etc) of individuals who have experienced these victimizations. I also have worked in a professional capacity with clients experiencing stress and anxiety and self esteem/assertiveness issues. I am of the opinion that our professional relationship and the rapport that we build throughout our time together is foundational to the quality of our work. Once we establish a strong relationship, I generally employ strength-based approaches, Cognitive Behavioral therapy or T-CBT, Solution Focused therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment therapy. I want you to feel empowered.

If I'm not providing advocacy and clinical services to my survivors, you can likely find me either working out or coaching Crossfit; I'm a huge proponent in the transformative power of physical activity and believe that many valuable lessons can be learned through the pursuit of fitness and sport. I look forward to meeting you and working together!

Reviews

These quotes represent just a few of the many positive reviews that we have received for Gianna Trombino. We don't pay anyone to provide their review and they are all made voluntarily. Some people's experience receiving therapy with Teen Counseling might be different.

I'm not sure there's a more valuable gift that you can give to someone than a deeper understanding of themselves, and that's what Gianna has given me. When we first started out, I was in a world of anxiety. I was waking up in a cold sweat every morning, heart racing, not really wanting to do anything that was required of me that day. I thought I knew the root cause of my anxiety -- my relationship at the time -- but I was wrong. It took years of patience, hard work, genuine interest, and compassion on Gianna's part for us to figure out that there was something more profound at play. I didn't know that ROCD was a thing, but because Gianna listened so well and cared so much, she figured out that this was actually my struggle.  I truly believe that, had I not met her, my life would be in a completely different place right now. There hasn't been a single moment where I've felt that any other person I know could have both challenged and consoled me the way that she did. I'm so lucky that I had not just any support, but hers. I will take the knowledge and perspective and tools that I've learned from her with me for the rest of my life. It takes a very special person to take on someone else's concerns on a weekly basis, when everyone's own independent life is full of challenges as is. Gianna did that without hesitation. She is such a gifted person and therapist -- I wish everyone had the chance to benefit from her the way I have. Anyway, this is all to say -- from my very odd brain and the bottomest bottom of my heart -- I am so thankful for her. I'll be grateful forever.

Gianna has been very kind and patient with my daughter starting high school. She has also supported me as a parent. Just knowing I am doing what I can to help has been a benefit.

Work with me!
