Hello my name is Gay Lynn Williamson-Grigas and I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, (LMHC) and a Certified Addiction Professional. I have a Master's Degree in psychology from the Michigan School of Professional Psychology, in Farmington Hills, Michigan. My first commercially published book, Transformative Rituals: Celebrations for Personal Growth, highlights my very creative approach to therapy and incorporates innovative ways to break through barriers and blocks that hold us back. I have over 20 years of experience working with individuals and groups in recovery centers and currently work with counseling teens in an educational setting.
I currently work with teens dealing with anxiety, depression, bipolar, recovery from addictions and addictive compulsive behaviors, relationship problems, codependency, self worth and self esteem, school and academic problems, and bullying.
My most recent book is Trigger-Proof: 12 Tools to Keep Your Cool and Confidence. I am working with teens to help them understand their personal triggers and buttons that get pushed. Helping teens stay centered while dealing with stressful peers pressures and situations at school that may trigger unwanted responses.
My goal is to be a positive motivator and an encouraging presence. My hope is to inspire and uplift teens who are frustrated and discouraged. My desire is to help each teen come to appreciate their unique life meaning and purpose. My commitment is to help teens live their best authentic life and pursue what makes them happy.
My style is to assist teens in understanding their unique individual patterns and self perceptions. In doing so each teen has the opportunity to change and modify their personal patterns or interrupt the unhealthy behavior patterns that are no longer supporting their success at home and school. I am currently working with teens in a school setting needing support with mental health and wellness.

Gay is very sweet, caring and attentive. After a few sessions, I am already improving on my self esteem and overall Confidence. She helped me transition with major life changes and was an awesome support system. She was honest, straightforward and always had amazing tips and advice. I love that I am able to take what I learned from her and apply it to my day to day life. Thank you Gay for all your support!:)
She is absolutely wonderful. She is so attentive and caring. She also pushes me when needed. I’m so grateful I got paired with her.
Love her! She is so understanding and helpful.
She is one of the best therapists I have ever worked with. Her repertoire of counseling knowledge is not only impressive, more importantly, she intuitively keyed in to exactly what kind of counseling was needed to address my concerns specifically from the very beginning. She is a kind soul and a good listener, and helped me make the leap from wanting to change to making real progress. Thank you Gay!
Gay Williamson-Grigas has been an amazing counselor. My wife and I spoke with her out of desperation. Our marriage had hit rock-bottom and we had tried several other marriage counselors. Unfortunately, we weren't having any luck.
But then we found Gay. Gay was able to connect with both of us as individuals and then utilize her expertise and experience to help us reconnect with each other. I can genuinely say that I'm not sure if I'd still be married today if not for Gay's help. I cannot thank her enough and I cannot recommend her enough. She's incredible at what she does.
We are two sessions in and I think it is going well. I feel very comfortable with her even though the process itself is uncomfortable. I also feel like I am challenged and not just agreed with which I like and respect.
Gay is one of the best therapists I have ever worked with. Her knowledge and expertise is very impressive. I’m so glad I was matched with her. Thank you!
If you're honest, she gets to the heart of it, and gets you working.
Gay Williamson-Grigas is a fabulous counselor. She is kind, compassionate and extremely knowledgeable. She has been extremely healing and a joy to work with. I will definitely work with her again.
Gay is there for my middle school aged daughter as she process issues related to a parent with an addiction, being the child of divorce with two homes and the general pains of teenage life. What a great therapist and a great way to reach young people - delivering a service in their preferred ‘language’. My daughter can choose talking, texting or video sessions based on her mood and where she is dialing in from. I’m a very pleased parent!
Gay Williamson-Grigas is a good listener. She understands what I'm saying and gives appropriate recommendations. I really like how she gets back to me quickly when I message her. I would highly recommend her.
