Gail Amalfitano

About Me

Hello, my name is Gail. I am a licensed mental health counselor. I have specialized in trauma and in substance. I have broad experience as a psychotherapist. I have experience working with families, couples, and individuals. I also have experience with anxiety, depression, bipolar, codependency, negative thinking style, phase of life, adjustment issues, self-esteem, social anxiety, feeling stuck, conflicts in relationships, loss of a sense of self, and other issues we face in life. I have experience with ages 13 years and older. Teens in particular have a more difficult time communicating their needs and trusting adults. Teens need someone they feel is listening to them and validating them at the same time. I can be the sounding board! I promise never to talk AT YOU, and to take my time in understanding your perspectives and your feelings. I will honor your trust and privacy; and I will never judge you. You are a valuable individual and your feelings do matter. You do not have to be alone, feel alone, or feel as if no one understands what it is like to be you! I promise to work hard to advocate for you and be on your side!

I love the work I do! I am invested. I am person-centered in my approach. I utilize cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness, and solution-focused techniques. I am flexible in my approach as there is no one-size-fits-all approach to counseling. It is a journey unique to each individual. I am nonjudgmental, empathetic, supportive, and patient with lots of understanding. I realize it takes great courage to reach out to another and trust is paramount. You can be sure I will treat you with respect and value your trust! I look forward to walking with you on your journey!

Being matched with Gail and having her guidance with what’s going on with me has been a total godsend. She is always very attentive and gives great advice. I feel as though she always gives pertinent and thoughtful advice and she has totally helped me through this tough time. I can honestly say this has been one of the most beneficial things that’s happened in quite some time and Gail is to thank for that. Can’t recommend her enough :)

Gail is an incredibly insightful therapist. She was a very good match for me and provided support, tools, and resources all along the way. Gail goes above and beyond to communicate and help you know that you are taken care of. She is also very clear on how to move forward, giving you the path to make headway toward a healthier life.
