Hello, my name is Evan Middaugh. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of Illinois, and I currently reside in the Windy City of Chicago! I have experience working in multiple different areas including outpatient counseling, an inpatient hospital, residential placements, and substance use settings. I was born and raised in Florida and completed both my bachelors and masters degrees at Florida State University before moving away to eventually settle in Chicago. Since then I have been working in the mental health field, and I am now in a leadership role at the inpatient psychiatric hospital that I currently work at.
I seek to use my variety of experience working in different settings and with people from varied backgrounds in inform my approach to therapy and counseling with each of my clients. In my current role, I would with teens and their parents daily to seek to allow them to both better understand one another. Adolescence is a challenging time, and any additional stress can be multiplied just due to the changes each child is experiencing. It is important that an adolescent facing depression, anxiety, stress, or low self-esteem has a safe place that they can work on these things without concerns about what others may think or that someone else might find out. Having someone that is only interested in what you have to share (and won't get you in trouble) is a very valuable thing for someone experiencing any of the variety of issues adolescences presents.
- Stress, Anxiety
- Anger management
- Self esteem
- Career difficulties
I also have experience in Addictions, Family conflicts, Sleeping disorders, Depression, Coping with life changes, Compassion fatigue, ADHD

Great advisor! He helped me deal with my anxiety in a better way.
Evan is kind, responsive, supportive, constructive, and observant. I highly recommend him!
I feel as though Evan really takes the extra time to care and check in and that makes a big difference to me. He has a very human focused approach that I find works well and think that others would appreciate as well.
Extremely empathetic and listens to your concerns without imposing judgement. So many counselors out there over-validate the fears and concerns of their most anxious clients, thinking that it will help if someone says "It's totally valid to have that horrendous fear"...when in reality, clients don't need their worst fears brought to life! They need to learn when they are catastrophising so they can work on strategies to overcome those fears. He is GREAT at finding this balance and would highly recommend to others.
