About Me
If you are reading this... you may be experiencing something new, something uncomfortable, struggling with the past, or your emotions. If you're reading this... you may be ready to take the next steps or not quiet sure yet. If you're reading this... you're landed in the right place and I can't wait to connect!
I'm Emily. I'm a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in the state of Massachusetts and a Board Certified Art Therapist. I have almost 7 years of experience in this field in a variety of settings including: residential treatment, outpatient, school based, and community clinics. I use a person-centered, creative, and integrative approach in treatment. This means that I have a creative and unique perspective on situations. It also means that it is important to me that you have a voice when it comes to your care. Together we will create goals and identify the steps to take to overcome your current stressors. You are the expert in you, which means that I will be sensitive to how your cultural identity and lifestyle has impacted your experience.
I would describe my style as warm and supportive, and sometimes humorous. My teenage clients would describe me as goofy, calm, relatable, and someone they can talk to. As most of my work is with teens, I understand the unique challenges that they face in their day to day lives. Being in a period of your life where everything is constantly changing and you're just trying to figure out who you are, can be stressful! There may even be times when you feel like you have no one in your corner. My style involves helping you to arrive at insight, strategies, and tools that you can begin using immediately to make positive change in your life. These may include concrete tools, creative interventions, or strategies that you can use in the time between our sessions.
Most of my past experience is with individuals who have experienced trauma, depression, family conflict, or difficulty with acceptance. I am certified in Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and have advanced training in Attachment Based Family Therapy. Many times we have a voice in our head that comes out when faced with a new situation that says "You'll fail", "Why try", or "Don't bother." My goal is to help you uncover where these messages come from, because we have learned them somewhere in our past. You deserve to be able to face situations head on with tools and confidence to tackle them. This is where I can help. I will be there to guide you, encourage you, possibly even challenge you along the way.
Can't wait to meet you soon!

Emily is very nice and my daughter likes her a lot, she finds it easy to talk with Emily. Emily includes us (parents) when appropriate to help her work with our teen.
Emily is kind & intuitive, and very accessible. She truly cares, and made an effort to reach out during the week when I was going through some life changes.
Emily is patient, thoughtful, and particularly kind. Working with Emily has been a pleasure and I would recommend her to anybody!
Emily has been wonderful so far. I really enjoy talking to her and feel comfortable
Sharing information about myself even though we’ve only spoken a couple
Times so far. I love that she has the option to integrate art into the work she does and look forward to my chats with her
I have only been working with Emily for a month but she has been attentive and very helpful in this short time.
A very friendly and understanding person. Emily had easy empathy for the situations I described and was a very nice person to speak to.
I've only met with Emily a handful of times, however she immediately made me feel comfortable. Her upbeat personality, great listening skills, and clear desire to help are just a few of the qualities I'd use to describe Emily.
It’s only been a couple of sessions so far but it’s going very well. I feel listened to and I feel like our personalities mesh well.
We only just started working together, but Emily has made me feel comfortable and safe sharing. She is welcoming and I am looking forward to continuing to work with her!
