Working with teens is invigorating; so much is at stake and so much potential can be won. I have worked in K-12 schools with students, parents and teachers for twenty years of my career. I currently see teenagers for therapy after school and on Saturdays for Teen Court, a diversion program for students who have had minor legal infractions. This time of life is generally confusing for people and that is part of growing up. Good coaches, parents, teachers and therapists can make a positive difference in a young person’s ability to solve problems, regulate their emotions and make good decisions.
Success occurs when young people identify the areas they want to work through, set goals and feel guided toward a brighter future. Sometimes difficult life circumstances have influenced teens, but they can reach new understandings and kindnesses despite these disappointments.
People’s strongest need is for connection with others and childhood abandonment or abuse (real or perceived) can be healed. Logical talk can help but activities utilizing an individual’s emotional brain and shifting perception is key. Repairing and strengthening current relationships may require the family to engage in helping the teen in therapy; I have strategies to facilitate that. The family system is like a mobile over a baby’s crib, when one element is touched, all elements move. As a parent looking for therapy for your teen, it appears that you are already engaged in the healing of your child’s mind and soul.

Deana has been awesome to talk with, responds quickly and even sends encouraging and thought provoking messages when I’m too busy to respond properly. After a few weeks I am feeling a lot better and am navigating my way out of the situations that had me so stressed!
We are extremely happy with Deana,She is helping our teen Son , would recommend Her 100%
I really appreciate the way Deana takes the time to ask questions and makes sure that she really understands the situation before plunging in. She is thorough and can really break information down in ways that both my teen and I can understand. I feel that ability comes from knowing what she is doing and a genuine concern for her clients.
Deana has helped me in ways I didn’t even know I needed. She pays close attention to my needs and she is very supportive and real! I respect her honesty and the time she puts into helping me. Definitely the best therapy I have gotten period.
Deana is absolutely wonderful!! I’m truly looking forward to talking with her again via email and over the phone. I would highly recommend her!! Thank you!!
Deana is an amazing mentor that really keys in on what is important!
